“Senator’s constituents cite projects, development initiatives as reasons for backing her re-election”
The communities of Ukwulu, Ifitedunu and Umudioka in Anambra State have endorsed Senator Uche Lilian Ekwunife, CON, for re-election to the Senate in 2027, declaring that the forthcoming election presents an opportunity to reward her performance with another mandate.
The endorsement came on Monday during Ekwunife’s campaign tour of the 58 communities in Anambra Central Senatorial District, where traditional rulers, Presidents-General, cabinet chiefs, community stakeholders, traders and residents turned out in large numbers to receive her.
The communities cited more than 30 verifiable projects and interventions executed across the three areas as evidence of the senator’s impact, insisting that her record of grassroots development, accessibility and commitment to the welfare of her constituents justified another term in the Senate.
In a remarkable show of support, community leaders and residents took the lead in the campaign, recounting the numerous infrastructure projects, educational initiatives, empowerment programmes and humanitarian interventions attributed to Ekwunife in their respective communities.
They declared their unequivocal support for her senatorial ambition, pledging to use their votes in 2027 to reward what they described as effective representation and tangible development.
The senator was accompanied on the tour by prominent personalities from Nri, including Chief Arthur Mbuba, Chief Donatus Okeke and Mr Norbert Ezeani.
Others in the delegation included the APC candidate for Idemili North and South Federal Constituency, Barr. Kingsley Ezekwelu; Campaign Council Chairman, Chief Edwin Ubboh; Director-General of the Campaign Council, Dr Chidi Chidebe; and other political leaders and stakeholders.
Before proceeding to the community tour venues, Ekwunife paid visits to traditional rulers and community leaders.
In Ukwulu, she was received by HRM Igwe Peter Anaukwu Uyanwa, Ezedike I of Ukwulu Kingdom, alongside the President-General, Hon. Uba Ayiofu.
In Umudioka, the delegation was received by Regent and Onowu, Chief Dr Amuta Benedict Chukwuemeka, Ugochukwutubelu Dunukofia, and President-General, Chief Adinnu Onyechi Valentine.
At Ifitedunu, the senator was received by His Royal Majesty, Igwe Dr Chukwuemekalum Ilounoegbunam, Eze Dunu II and Igwe of Ifitedunu, alongside President-General, Prof. Stephen Uchenna Ufoaroh.
Addressing the community leaders and stakeholders, Ekwunife expressed gratitude for the endorsements and confidence reposed in her, assuring the people that a renewed mandate in 2027 would bring greater development to Anambra Central.
She said her return to the Senate would position the district to attract more federal dividends, noting that her anticipated status as a ranking senator would strengthen her influence in legislative leadership, committee appointments and the equitable distribution of national resources.
Ekwunife pledged to surpass her previous achievements and raise the standard of constituency representation, promising renewed efforts to deliver greater dividends of democracy to the people.
She also thanked the traditional rulers, community leaders, stakeholders and residents for their massive turnout and support, describing their endorsements as a source of encouragement as she continues her community-to-community campaign.
The endorsements in Ukwulu, Ifitedunu and Umudioka have given the senator’s campaign an early boost, with her supporters expressing confidence that the backing of the three communities will translate into a strong showing in the 2027 senatorial election.
