The Governor of Ebonyi State, Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, has described the death of former President Muhammadu Buhari as a monumental loss to Nigeria.
Buhari was reported to have died in London on Sunday after a brief illness.
Governor Nwifuru made the remark on Sunday night while reacting to the news of the former president’s passing away.
He described the late President as a towering figure whose life was defined by selfless service, discipline, courage, and unwavering commitment to the unity and progress of Nigeria.
In his words:”From his first appearance on the national stage as Military Head of State in 1984 to his return as a democratically elected President in 2015, President Buhari consistently embodied integrity, courage, and simplicity values that endeared him to millions of Nigerians.”
“For us in Ebonyi State, President Buhari was more than a national leader; he was a partner in development and a friend to our people,” he added.
Governor Nwifuru also extended his condolences to the government and people of Katsina State, the family of the late president, and the Federal Government.
He prayed for the peaceful repose of Buhari’s soul and strength for the nation in this time of loss.
