The people of Achalla Community in Awka North Local Government Area of Anambra State have declared their support for Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s bid for a second term in office. Their decision, they say, is based on the governor’s proven track record during his three years in office.
This was affirmed during a rally organized by the Nwanayoeze Achalla Support Group, held simultaneously at various village squares across the community.
According to attendees, comprising mostly women, men, youths, and teenagers of voting age the developmental strides made by Governor Soludo and his deputy, Dr. Onyekachukwu Ibezim, have endeared them deeply to the grassroots throughout the state.
The convener of the rally and former President General of the Achalla Improvement Union, Comrade Charles Okadigbo, stated that the entire community stands united behind Governor Soludo and will cast their votes for him on November 8, 2025.
Comrade Okadigbo emphasized that the governor has shown immense love for Awka North, fulfilling campaign promises especially those aimed at giving farmers a sense of belonging. Okadigbo, who also served as Special Adviser on Agriculture to former Governor Willie Obiano, expressed optimism that Soludo’s re-election would attract more investors and accelerate development in Achalla, the headquarters of Awka North Local Government Area.
He also used the occasion to appeal to the governor regarding the ongoing delay of the community’s President General election, which has been put on hold without clear justification.
He stressed that the community remains peaceful and free from disturbances that would necessitate the appointment of a caretaker committee. Instead, an election should be conducted to reflect the people’s genuine wishes.
For his part, Mr. Emeka Iliemena, Deputy Chairman of APGA in Awka North, highlighted some key road projects initially abandoned but later completed under Governor Soludo’s administration to include the Isuaniocha–Achalla, Amansea–Awba Ofemili, and Amansea–Ufuma roads, crucial developments that have helped open up the predominantly agrarian local government area.
Mr. Iliemena observed that the administration’s successful conduct of local government elections during its first term demonstrates Governor Soludo’s preparedness and focus on grassroots development.
Chief Obinna Nweke, another community leader, affirmed that the governor deserves a second term to continue the infrastructural development currently underway across the state.
Speaking shortly after the rally, Barrister Patrick Nwora, Palace Secretary to the Traditional Ruler of Achalla, described himself as a nonpartisan citizen who supports Governor Soludo’s re-election based on clear signs of good governance.
Barrister Nwora also appealed to the governor not to heed calls for constituting a caretaker committee to lead Achalla, warning that such a move would be counterproductive especially given that the community is ready for an election.
He argued that it would be better to allow a leadership vacuum than to appoint an unpopular individual to oversee community affairs.
Mrs. Chinyeaka Obalim, a prominent woman leader, and Chief Nonso Igwenma, Chairman of the Achalla Improvement Union, Idemili branch, both reiterated their total support for Governor Soludo’s agenda ahead of the November 8, 2025 election.
They urged the people, especially women, to take advantage of the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration exercise by updating their Permanent Voter’s Cards in preparation for the election.
The rally ended with participants canvassing support for Governor Soludo as they moved through the eight villages that make up Achalla Community.
