Chief Emmanuel Nwachukwu, the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) senatorial candidate for Anambra South in the upcoming Saturday election, has pledged to complete all ongoing projects initiated by the late Ifeanyi Ubah.
He further promised effective representation for the people of Anambra South if elected as their Senator.
Nwachukwu made these remarks during a press conference organized by the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Anambra State chapter, held at the union secretariat in Godwin Ezemo Press Center, Awka, last week during the union’s monthly congress.
According to Nwachukwu, he intends to leverage the impressive achievements of Governor Chukwuma Soludo to serve his constituency diligently and effectively. He described himself as fortunate to have a governor like Soludo, who has demonstrated exemplary performance in the state.
Speaking on his plans for the senatorial district, Nwachukwu emphasized his commitment to adopting a policy of consultation before taking any action. This approach, he explained, will enable him to truly understand the challenges faced by the people of Anambra South.
He further disclosed plans to initiate cross-party consultations to ensure inclusivity and foster cooperation across the political spectrum.
He also stated that he intends to hold monthly meetings with the state governor and establish constituency offices in every community within the senatorial district to enhance accessibility and ensure that constituents can easily bring their concerns to him.
Outlining his priorities if elected to the Senate, the APGA hopeful stated firmly that he aims to be an active legislator, not a “bench warmer.”
His focus will be on sponsoring bills that have a direct, positive impact on his constituents.
“I will champion legislation addressing the welfare of women, as well as the challenges faced by the elderly, indigent persons, and unemployed youths,” “I also plan to propose bills that will empower state governors with greater control over security agencies during times of insecurity. Furthermore, I intend to introduce measures to combat the menace of erosion, aiming to mitigate erosion-related disasters not only in my senatorial district but across Anambra State.”he added.
