The Deputy Governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the upcoming November 8 gubernatorial election in Anambra State, Senator Uche Ekwunife, has issued a strong warning to Governor Charles Soludo, stating that the Anambra State Government House is not his “birthright” and that he should prepare to vacate office.
Addressing APC supporters at her hometown of Nri in Anaocha Local Government Area, Senator Ekwunife described Governor Soludo’s administration as a comprehensive failure, particularly in the areas of infrastructure, economic development, and security of lives and property.
“Soludo and I are not enemies, but what he currently holds is what we are contesting for, leadership of Anambra State. The Nigerian Constitution provides a four-year term for elected governors, and re-election is based strictly on performance. In Soludo’s case, it is clear that he has lost his grip on governance. That is why the APC is offering Ndi Anambra a credible and competent alternative to the misrule of APGA.”she stated.
Ekwunife criticized the governor for allegedly diverting attention from governance to political distractions.
“Instead of focusing on the challenges facing the state, Soludo has resorted to pettiness ,going about mentioning my name incessantly like a desperate man. We are not disturbed by his rants. The truth is, he has failed to earn a second term. The state has been practically on autopilot under his watch.”she added.
She further accused Governor Soludo of symbolic desperation, referencing his early occupation of the yet-to-be-completed Anambra Government House. “Soludo rushed into an uncompleted government house to create a false impression of progress. It only reflects his growing panic as the reality of electoral defeat looms. He forgets that government is a continuum ,when one administration ends, another begins. And we are ready to take over.”Ekwunife stated.
Also speaking at the event, former Minister of State for Science and Technology, Chief Henry Ikoh, noted the strategic importance of the forthcoming election.
He described it as a unique opportunity for Anambra State to reconnect with the mainstream of Nigerian politics.
“This election is not just about changing leadership,” “it is about repositioning Anambra to play a central role in national development. APC has presented Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu and Senator Uche Ekwunife as a formidable ticket ,a winning team with capacity, vision, and national relevance.” Ikoh declared.
He added that with the increasing mobilization of stakeholders both within and outside the state, APC is poised to make history in Anambra.
“The time for our party to take charge of Anambra is now. We are witnessing unprecedented grassroots support and strategic alliances that will ensure a smooth and decisive victory on November 8” he added.
