The Nigeria Police Force has successfully repatriated a high-profile fugitive, Mr. Dai Qisheng, to the People’s Republic of China.

According to a statement issued on Sunday by Deputy Commissioner of Police Olumuyiwa Adejobi,
Force Public Relations Officer,

the landmark operation was executed through the INTERPOL National Central Bureau (NCB), Abuja.

The statement confirmed that Mr. Qisheng’s repatriation was carried out in close collaboration with INTERPOL NCB Beijing and the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Nigeria, highlighting the Nigeria Police Force’s unwavering commitment to combating transnational organized crime.

Dai Qisheng, described as a notorious gang leader, was wanted in Guizhou Province, China, for allegedly orchestrating and leading violent organized criminal activities.

He fled China in 2024 following the issuance of an arrest warrant by the Public Security Bureau of Zhijin County.

“Determined to evade justice, he sought refuge in Nigeria,” “Operatives of INTERPOL NCB Abuja tracked, surveilled, and apprehended the fugitive in Abuja on August 8, 2025. Following his arrest, he was repatriated to Beijing on August 15, 2025, under the established framework of police-to-police cooperation coordinated by INTERPOL.”the statement read.

The operation, the Force noted, not only reaffirms the Nigeria Police Force’s determination to ensure that fugitives do not find safe haven in Nigeria but also demonstrates the strength of international collaboration in tackling increasingly sophisticated global crime networks.

Meanwhile, the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olukayode Adeolu Egbetokun, reiterated the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to strengthening international partnerships.

He emphasized the importance of intelligence sharing and operational cooperation in ensuring that national borders do not become obstacles to justice.

“The arrest and repatriation of Dai Qisheng sends a clear message to criminals around the world: the Federal Republic of Nigeria will not serve as a sanctuary for fugitives,” the IGP stated.
