Soludo Vows to Tackle Insecurity in Ogbaru, Gets Endorsement
Governor of Anambra State Prof Charles Soludo visit to Ogbaru
The Governor of Anambra State, Professor Charles Soludo, has vowed to combat the resurgence of criminal activities in Ogbaru Local Government Area, assuring residents that his administration is fully prepared to address the emerging security threats.

Governor Soludo made this pledge during a visit to Iyiowa Odekpe in Ogbaru Council Area, where he met with community members and stakeholders.
Recalling Ogbaru’s history as one of the eight most troubled local government areas when he assumed office, the governor expressed concern over fresh intelligence reports indicating a regrouping of criminal elements within the hinterlands.
He reassured the people that his government would intensify efforts to secure the area and would not relent in its mission to root out criminality.
He also reflected on Ogbaru’s role in his political journey, noting that it was one of the three local government areas that kept his hope alive during his 2010 gubernatorial campaign.
While acknowledging that early interventions had focused on projects such as the Nkisi–Atani–Ozubulu Road and the transformation of Okpoko, Soludo admitted that the community of Iyiowa Odekpe had persistently appealed for more direct government attention.
Reaffirming his commitment to the welfare of ordinary citizens, the governor undertook a tour of key infrastructure sites in the area. He visited the severely dilapidated New Road, passing through Ihitenansa and continuing to Asha Road, where he acknowledged the dire state of the roads and promised that repairs would be prioritized.
He also inspected School Road, which he described as an “emergency situation needing urgent attention.”
His comments reflected the growing frustrations among residents over worsening road conditions, which have severely impacted daily transportation and access to essential services.
As part of his visit, Governor Soludo also stopped at St. Gregory Catholic Church in Iyiowa Odekpe, where he offered heartfelt reflections on his political journey and thanked the community for their enduring support.
The governor’s visit was met with enthusiastic cheers from local residents, many of whom expressed optimism about the promised improvements.
The dual focus on security and infrastructure underscored a proactive strategy aimed at fostering lasting progress and stability in the Ogbaru region.
The Speaker of the Anambra State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Somtochukwu Udeze, commended the governor for his consistent efforts to develop all parts of the state, including remote and previously neglected areas.
Similarly, the Mayor of Ogbaru Council Area, Sir Kenneth Akwuobi, expressed deep appreciation for the governor’s commitment to the community.
Mr. Noble Igwe, the Member representing Ogbaru Constituency One, also voiced strong confidence in the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), declaring it the party to beat in the upcoming gubernatorial election scheduled for November 8, 2025.
As the governor concluded his visit, the warm reception he received reaffirmed the community’s support for his administration and their hope for continued development in Iyiowa Odekpe and the broader Ogbaru area.
