The Anambra State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Tuesday inaugurated the Ikukuoma/Iyom campaign team, declaring its readiness to win the upcoming November 8 gubernatorial election.
Speaking at the event, the Anambra State APC Chairman, Chief Basil Ejidike, said the formal inauguration of the campaign committee signaled the proper commencement of the APC’s electioneering activities across the state.
Ejidike stated that the APC had adopted a grassroots strategy, beginning its campaign from the bottom up by touring all local government areas and wards in the state.
“Elections are won at the ward level,” he stated.
According to him, the party has built a strong structure comprising trusted individuals stationed in all polling units across the state.
He recalled the party’s experience during the last Anambra South senatorial bye-election, describing it as a hard lesson learned.
“We were disappointed during the last bye-election. We’ve learned from that experience, and such an outcome will never repeat itself. We are now fully prepared for the electoral battle ahead,” he said.
Ejidike commended the party’s governorship and deputy governorship candidates, describing them as competent individuals who understand the needs of the people.
“They are great individuals, and I am confident they will succeed in this election,” he added.
Also speaking at the inauguration, APC Governorship candidate, Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu, said the party’s ambition to take over the Anambra Government House in Awka is achievable with the capable hands present within the party.
He affirmed that he entered the race to win, stressing that victory would require the collective hard work and dedication of all party members.
“By joining the campaign, we’ve already begun working hard but more work needs to be done. We know the journey ahead won’t be without obstacles, but we have clear plans for Anambra State.
I am here to restore Anambra to its rightful place as the industrial hub of Nigeria. I own industrial centers that cannot function without security. We will create a conducive environment for businesses to thrive,” Ukachukwu stated.
He further explained that after addressing the issue of insecurity, his administration would focus on electricity to power industrial clusters and stimulate investment in the state.
Ukachukwu also pledged to prioritize the health sector, including both primary and tertiary healthcare facilities, and to transform the state’s economic landscape based on his track record of private sector success.
“I didn’t come from the classroom; I came from business circle. I am a billionaire. We shouldn’t be talking about millions,I deal in billions. It’s not certificates that make people successful; it’s what they carry in their minds,” he stated.
According to him, he and his running mate are popular among the people because they are credible and have tangible offerings for the state.
“I’m here to talk about the future of Anambra—not individuals. Join us in lifting Anambra out of poverty. Good English doesn’t put food on the table. Soludo is too small for me to discuss. I have people like him working for me. I can employ him and pay him—he cannot employ me.
No one can employ me except God. I don’t engage in discussing people. People who have nothing to offer talk about others; great minds talk about ideas and investments,” he said.
Also speaking at the event, the Managing Director of Wintech, Chidozie Nwankwo, said Prince Ikukuoma would lead Ndi Anambra to the promised land, but only with the support and unity of the people.
He urged every member of the party to go back to their wards and mobilize voters for the APC.
In her remarks, the deputy governorship candidate, Iyom Uche Ekwunife, expressed confidence in the APC’s growing influence in Anambra State, noting that for the first time, the party now has four sitting members in the State House of Assembly.
“We are here as a party determined to take over Anambra. We’ve gathered today to change the narrative. Now is the time to align with the federal government to attract development to our state,” she stated.
