Enforcement of Tinted Glass Permit in Best Interest of Public Safety – Anambra Police

The Anambra State Police Command has clarified that the ongoing enforcement of tinted glass permits is not intended to harass or punish road users but is a proactive measure aimed at enhancing public safety and security across the state.
In an official statement released by the Command’s spokesperson, SP Ikenga Tochukwu on Sunday ,the police stated that security intelligence has uncovered a growing trend in which criminal elements use vehicles with unauthorized tinted windows to evade law enforcement, conceal their identities, and perpetrate crimes such as armed robbery, kidnapping, and attacks on innocent residents.
“The Anambra State Police Command wishes to inform the general public, particularly Ndi Anambra, that the ongoing enforcement of tinted glass permits is a strategic security initiative. It is not a punitive exercise but one designed to ensure public safety and maintain law and order,” SP Tochukwu stated.
He reiterated that the misuse of vehicles with illegal tinted windows poses a significant threat to security operations.
“Criminals often take advantage of unauthorized tints to avoid detection at checkpoints and carry out their activities undetected. This has become a serious security concern that we must address,” he added.
In light of these developments, the Command has intensified its efforts to regulate the use of tinted windows, stressing that the enforcement exercise is focused on,Curtailing the movement of criminal elements,Enhancing visibility for effective security checks, and Protecting law-abiding citizens throughout the state.
The Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, CP Ikioye Orutugu, also called for the understanding and cooperation of motorists and the general public.
He said that the initiative is purely a security-driven measure aimed at making Anambra safer for everyone.
“For ease of compliance, members of the public are advised to visit the official portal for tinted vehicle registration via the following link: https://possap.gov.ng. The platform is secure, user-friendly, and self-guided,” the statement added.
