Anambra Philanthropist, Amb. Prosper Chukwuka, Bags Two Nri Titles
A philanthropist from Awka, Anambra State, Ambassador Prosper Chukwuka, has been honored with two traditional titles in Agu-Ukwu Nri,part of the present-day Nri Kingdom in Anaocha Local Government Area of Anambra State.
The titles conferred upon him are: ‘Eze Omeiheukwu Ndị Igbo Gburugburu II (Worldwide)’ and ‘Deputy President Ambassador for Peace Worldwide.’
The ceremony, which took place at Dr. Ramas Estate in the ancient kingdom of Agu-Ukwu Nri, celebrated Chukwuka’s relentless efforts in supporting the underprivileged, prisoners, and orphans.
It was revealed that between January and September 2025 alone, Chukwuka facilitated the release of over 500 prisoners both within Nigeria and abroad. His foundation also supports indigent students with education scholarships, startup capital for businesses, and other humanitarian initiatives aimed at improving lives.
The titles were conferred by Dr. Ramas Okoye Asuzu (Eze Oba), Custodian of Igbo Culture and President of the Foundation for World Peace and Cultural Re-orientation, who commended Chukwuka for his selfless service to humanity.
“I’ve given many awards including to notable figures like Mike Okiro—but this one is special. I chose to honor our son today because he has consistently demonstrated good character and noble actions,”
“As Custodian of Igbo Culture and International President of the Foundation for World Peace and Cultural Re-orientation, I’m very active on Facebook—engaging 24/7.
I came across this young man’s activities on social media—releasing people from prison in places like Lagos and Abuja. What stood out was how rare this level of philanthropy is among young Igbo men today. Many would rather build hotels and host extravagant parties.
I decided that Ndigbo must acknowledge his impact, and he deserves a title befitting his work. Initially, when he told me he had the title ‘Eze Ndi Igbo,’ I dismissed it, saying such a title doesn’t exist in the Southeast.
After consulting with my elders, we conferred on him the title of ‘Eze Omeiheukwu Ndigbo Gburugburu’ and ‘Deputy Ambassador of Peace,’ empowering him to continue his divine work.I wanted to celebrate him while he’s still alive, and I emphasized that this title is conferred under my full authority—which remains unchallengeable in Igbo land.”Dr. Asuzu said.
However, Dr. Asuzu noted that he has cautioned Chukwuka to always keep his hands clean and never misuse the title to defraud or intimidate others.
Adaigbo Chika Chukwurah, a female Cultural Ambassador of Igboland, also played a key role in Chukwuka’s recognition. She said she had been following his work and brought it to the attention of Eze Oba, who was equally impressed. She encouraged Chukwuka to stay humble and continue his philanthropic efforts.
Radiating gratitude, Chukwuka—who hails from Umudiaba village in Nkwelle community, Awka—expressed joy over the recognition, saying it motivates him to do even more for humanity.
“I’m excited about this title because it shows that my work is being appreciated,” “I’ve received many titles over the years, including Chief Akubuike, Double Chief Obata Obie, High Chief Ego Bu Oga, Onapurudike Egbe n’Iru Ogu, and Ogbuagu as a cabinet chief in my town.”
“On November 10, 2023, I was also conferred with the title Eze Omeiheukwu Eze Igbo Gburugburu. For helping to secure the release of many prisoners, I was given the title ‘Messiah Ndi Eji-Eji’ (Messiah of the Captives).
Other titles I’ve received include ‘Ogbu Neche Ndigbo Gburugburu’ from the Anioma people of Delta State, ‘Echete Obi Esie Ike’ from students, ‘Ara n’Azu Nwa na Calabar’ from the people of Calabar, and ‘Ozo Igbo Ndu’ from the Port Harcourt community.”he said.
On his reason for focusing on prisoners, Chukwuka said:“I work to release prisoners because, after the dead, they face the gravest suffering. They are like the living dead—unable to help themselves or their families. Releasing a prisoner is like giving them a second life. After their release, I mentor them to become law-abiding citizens and discourage them from returning to crime.”
The real estate mogul said that his second recognition—as Deputy President Ambassador for Peace Worldwide—will inspire him to further advocate for global peace.
He called on young Igbo billionaires to prioritize empowering others and contributing to a more just and compassionate society.
The event turned into a grand celebration, drawing titled dignitaries from both the Nri Kingdom and Awka capital city. It also drew public attention to the plight of prisoners and the urgent need for societal reintegration and support for those affected by systemic injustice.
