Family Dispute in Uruagu: Community Clears Udo Ga Chi Personnel of Wrongdoing
By Karen James
The Oba community has come out strongly in defense of Mr. Tony Anugo Anaemesim a respected peace ambassador and prominent member of the Udo Ga Chi peacekeeping group following allegations many have described as a deliberate attempt to smear his name and discredit the organization he represents.
Mr. Anaemesim, widely regarded for his integrity and calm demeanor, recently came under public scrutiny after being falsely accused of bias during a family dispute in Uruagu Village, Oba.
The incident occurred during the burial of the late Mrs. Catharine Ejikeme Nuogo, when tensions flared and members of Udo Ga Chi were called upon to prevent an escalation.
However, multiple eyewitnesses have affirmed that Mr. Anaemesim acted strictly within his role as a neutral mediator, working to de-escalate the situation and prevent violence.
“It’s unfortunate that some individuals are attempting to tarnish the image of Udo Ga Chi and its members,” said a community elder who was present at the scene.
“Mr. Tony did not lift a hand against anyone. He came, calmed the situation, and left peacefully.”he said.
Community leaders have denounced the allegations as politically motivated, orchestrated by elements seeking to undermine Udo Ga Chi’s credibility ahead of the upcoming local elections.
The group, known throughout Oba and its environs for championing grassroots peacebuilding and mediation, has long served as a stabilizing force in the region.
Speaking on the matter, a source within Udo Ga Chi reaffirmed the group’s commitment to truth and justice, describing Mr. Anaemesim as a living embodiment of its core principles — fairness, integrity, and non-violent conflict resolution.
“Those spreading these falsehoods are simply uncomfortable with peace. They thrive on discord and are attempting to sow division where unity prevails,” the source said.
Residents of Oba have called on the public to disregard the allegations and instead commend Mr. Anaemesim for his unwavering commitment to peace, particularly in volatile situations.
The leadership of Udo Ga Chi has reiterated its full support for Mr. Anaemesim and made it clear that no amount of falsehood or political manipulation will derail their mission to promote justice, unity, and community harmony.
As tensions ease following the incident, the people of Oba remain steadfast in their support for one of their own — Mr. Tony Anugo Anaemesim whose only mission on that day was to keep the peace.
