The Anambra State Government has honoured both past and present leaders of the Agunnechaba community security network for their exceptional dedication and unwavering commitment to peace and safety across the state.
The recognition ceremony, held under the auspices of the Office of the Special Adviser to the Governor on Community Security, celebrated individuals whose efforts have significantly contributed to grassroots security and public safety. Among the recipients were several distinguished members of the Agunnechaba security outfit, both current and former, who have consistently demonstrated excellence in service.
One of the standout awardees was Hon. Monday Nwokoye, a widely respected figure known for his steadfast commitment to community protection. He received the Excellent Service Award in recognition of his remarkable contributions to security and coordination at the grassroots level.
Speaking after receiving the honour, Hon. Nwokoye expressed heartfelt gratitude to God and the Anambra State Government for the recognition, describing it as a powerful motivation to continue his work.
“I thank God Almighty and the state government for recognizing us. This honour shows that our efforts are not in vain, and I promise never to disappoint Ndi Anambra,” he said.
He also extended special appreciation to Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo for his visionary leadership and ongoing support of community-led security initiatives.
“A very big thank you to Governor Soludo for his commitment to security and for acknowledging the efforts of those working at the grassroots level. I also deeply appreciate my team for their dedication and belief in our shared mission,” Nwokoye added.
In his remarks, he paid glowing tribute to Hon. Ken Emeakaye, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Community Security, whose office facilitated the award event. Nwokoye praised Emeakaye’s consistent mentorship and encouragement, describing him as a pillar of support in his leadership journey.
“Hon. Emeakaye has been a strong source of guidance and inspiration. I dedicate this award to my team in the Agunnechaba Group—they are the true heroes. With their support and courage, we’ve been able to make meaningful impact,” he noted.
Describing the award as a symbol of courage, teamwork, and perseverance, Nwokoye reaffirmed his commitment to sustaining peace and security in Anambra State.
“It’s never easy, but with the backing of my team and the Agunnechaba community, we have achieved great things. I remain resolute in my dedication to keeping Anambra safe and secure,” he added.
The event drew praise from attendees who described Hon. Nwokoye as a “reliable and results-driven leader” whose work has had a measurable impact on local communities.
“This award is well-deserved. Hon. Nwokoye has consistently shown leadership through discipline, effectiveness, and teamwork,” said one eyewitness at the event.
Another attendee echoed this sentiment:“He is a man of action. He addresses issues head-on and inspires those around him. We are proud to have such a leader in our midst.”
The recognition ceremony also reaffirmed the Soludo administration’s commitment to strengthening community security architecture by identifying and rewarding individuals who have shown courage, innovation, and integrity in their service to the state.
In his closing remarks, Hon. Nwokoye congratulated his fellow awardees, including Hon. Sir Emeka Ofor, whom he described as a personal mentor, and Hon. Ikenna Ofodeme, the Majority Leader of the Anambra House of Assembly, Hon. Jideofor Okocha, and others.
He commended their shared passion for protecting lives and property across the state.
“To my fellow awardees, congratulations. It is an honour to serve alongside people who are equally committed to safeguarding Ndi Anambra. Together, we will continue to protect and serve with pride, purpose, and unity,” Nwokoye affirmed.
