In line with the decision of the Anambra State Markets Amalgamated Traders Association (ASMATA) to support the re-election bid of Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, the Building Materials International Market, Ogidi, in Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State, hosted traders from other markets within Idemili Zone and Oyi to a prayer rally for Soludo’s victory in Saturday’s governorship election.
The prayer rally, which began at about 8:00 a.m., was held at the prayer arena of the Building Materials International Market, Ogidi.
While conducting the prayer session, Rev. Abraham Nwachukwu declared that the forthcoming governorship election in Anambra State would be peaceful.
He prayed that no opposition party would hijack the election and that Professor Charles Soludo would emerge victorious.
He expressed optimism that all serving government functionaries in the state would be returned to office to continue their work for the next four years, emphasizing that Soludo would also complete his tenure. According to him, “Whoever is hardworking must surely reap the fruits of his labour.”
“There will be no bloodshed in Saturday’s governorship election in Anambra State—no kidnapping, no thuggery, and no violence. Let Heaven take over and provide security for His people during the election,” he prayed.
Appreciating his guests, the President-General of the Building Materials International Market, Ogidi, Chief Jude Nwankwo, popularly known as Ochebdo of Umuawulu, underscored the importance of prayer, saying that nothing succeeds unless it begins with prayer.
According to him, Soludo has already won the election based on the massive support of traders and Ndi Anambra in general.
“Soludo is a tested and trusted governor. The fact that communities and traders across Anambra State have contributed funds to support him is a testament to his tremendous achievements. Ndi Anambra want to take ownership of their state. Giving Soludo money is a demonstration of commitment to his leadership,” Nwankwo stated.
Chief Nwankwo, who also serves as the Patron of ASMATA, noted that Ndi Anambra have witnessed Soludo’s transformation agenda and have, therefore, decided to support his second-term bid.
He listed some of the governor’s achievements, including the construction of access roads, improved healthcare delivery, free child delivery and antenatal services, and the upgrading of public schools across the state.
Chief Nwankwo, also known as Jolity, further highlighted other accomplishments such as the massive employment of teachers and healthcare personnel, restoration of security, establishment of recreational facilities, construction of bridges, and the ongoing building of a new Government House, among others.
He urged traders in Idemili and Oyi zones to come out en masse on Saturday to vote for Soludo, stressing that Soludo’s second term is non-negotiable.
Also speaking, the former Chairman of Idemili North Local Government Area, Hon. Emma Idimobi, commended Chief Nwankwo for his leadership qualities and his insightful views on Soludo’s administration.
He described Nwankwo as “a good material for any political position” and urged traders to continue to support him.
Hon. Idimobi reaffirmed that Soludo has transformed Anambra State, revealing that the governor has converted no fewer than twenty-seven schools into smart schools, with more in the pipeline. He noted that this initiative would discourage parents and pupils from patronizing private schools.
Idimobi, who serves as the campaign director for Soludo in Idemili North, emphasized that Idemili has every reason to vote for the governor, given the numerous benefits the area has received under the current administration.
He expressed confidence that Idemili North would deliver bloc votes for Soludo and urged residents to come out en masse for Saturday’s poll.
Similarly, the President-General of ASMATA, Chief Humphrey Anuna, reiterated that Soludo truly deserves re-election.
