CP Shogunle Hosts Security Heads, Reinforces Anambra Election Preparedness

The Commissioner of Police in charge of the Anambra State Governorship Election, CP Abayomi Shogunle, on Wednesday hosted heads of all security agencies operating in the state in a high-level strategic meeting aimed at harmonizing and reinforcing existing operational structures ahead of the November 8, 2025 Governorship Election.

In a statement issued on Thursday by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Ikenga Tochukwu, the meeting, which was held at the Anambra State Police Command Headquarters, Awka, brought together senior representatives from the Nigerian Army, Nigerian Navy, Department of State Services (DSS), Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), and the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).

According to SP Tochukwu, CP Shogunle reiterated the collective resolve of all security agencies to ensure a peaceful, credible, and violence-free electoral process.

He emphasized the importance of inter-agency coordination, real-time intelligence sharing, joint patrols, and strict adherence to professional and ethical conduct by all personnel before, during, and after the election.

The CP further noted that operational synergy among security formations remains crucial for proactive election monitoring, early detection of threats, and swift neutralization of potential disruptions across the 21 local government areas of the state.

In their separate remarks, the various Service Commanders expressed full commitment to the security arrangements and reaffirmed their readiness to protect voters, electoral officials, sensitive materials, and critical national assets throughout the electoral period.

They assured that robust deployment strategies have been mapped out to guarantee safety at polling units, collation centers, and transit routes for election materials.

CP Shogunle also assured residents and political stakeholders that security agencies have jointly reviewed identified flashpoints and designed a multi-layered response mechanism for rapid intervention in case of any security breach.

He emphasized that the joint operation centers will be activated across all zones to ensure seamless coordination and real-time reporting during the election.

The statement urged eligible voters to remain law-abiding, avoid acts of violence, and participate peacefully in the democratic process without fear of intimidation.

Political parties and their supporters were also advised to adhere strictly to the provisions of the Electoral Act and refrain from inciting actions capable of breaching public peace.

“The Anambra State Security Architecture remains united, proactive, and resolute in ensuring that the will of the people through the ballot box prevails,” the statement added.

Residents are encouraged to promptly report suspicious persons, movements, or security-related information to the nearest police station, or contact the Command Emergency Lines: 112 or 07039194332 for immediate response.
