AA Candidate, Ozo Nweke, Applauds Voter Turnout, Expresses Confidence in INEC
The governorship candidate of the Action Alliance (AA) in the Anambra State election, Ozo Jeff Nweke, has commended the conduct of voters and their impressive turnout during the poll.
Addressing journalists shortly after casting his vote at the Ogbugbankwa Polling Unit, Awka, Ozo Nweke remarked:“There is no voter apathy as we haven’t witnessed it. Unlike the last time, people have turned out en masse to exercise their franchise
.People have really impressed me with their understanding of the importance of good governance in our dynamic system. That is why they are so excited and enthusiastic about coming out today to make a statement. There is no better way to describe it—the turnout is very encouraging.”
“Indeed, our democracy in Nigeria has come of age, and we can confidently say that we have a democracy. As far as this exercise is concerned, it has been very good, even though the election is still ongoing.
The day has not ended, and people are still casting their votes without any form of intimidation or harassment. I hope the peaceful nature of the election continues until the end of the day.”he said.
Ozo Nweke, who voted at his polling unit around 1:10 p.m., also expressed satisfaction with the technical performance of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), noting that the Commission appeared determined to improve on its past operations.
“I am personally happy with INEC and with how the election is being conducted at this polling unit in Ogbugbankwa, Awka. Although we have observed some minor skirmishes, the overall conduct so far is commendable,” he noted.
