Agunechemba’s Absence at Polls: Soludo’s Landslide Victory Reaffirms Group’s Nonpartisan Role

The Anambra State Community Security Network, Agunechemba, has congratulated Professor Charles Chukwuma Soludo on his resounding victory in last Saturday’s gubernatorial election in the state.

In a statement issued by the Media and Publicity Secretary of Agunechemba, Comrade Nweke Nweke, the group emphasized that its non-presence at polling stations coupled with Governor Soludo’s decisive victory over candidates from other political parties, demonstrates its nonpartisan and professional commitment to the peace and security of Anambra State.

Comrade Nweke noted that during the campaign period, several candidates from the fifteen opposition parties had alleged that Agunechemba was a political instrument of the Soludo administration, purportedly created to intimidate opponents.

He, however, described such claims as baseless and politically motivated.

According to internal sources within the security outfit, Agunechemba operates as a lawful community security structure, established to combat violent crimes and restore public confidence following the wave of insecurity that plagued Anambra before its inception.
The source further disclosed that intelligence-driven operations carried out by Agunechemba in the weeks preceding the election played a key role in deterring criminal elements, particularly “unknown gunmen”—thereby contributing to the peaceful and credible conduct of the polls.

When contacted, Comrade Nweke Nweke, who also represents the Governor’s Special Adviser on Community Security, Prince Ken Emeakayi, dismissed the allegations made by some political candidates against Agunechemba operatives.
He stated that under Prince Emeakayi’s leadership, the organization remains committed to serving every citizen of Anambra State, irrespective of political affiliation.

“Many of those who sought to tarnish Agunechemba’s image are the same individuals who have benefitted from the sacrifices of our operatives men and women who risk their lives daily to safeguard the people of Anambra,”

“Our operatives conducted extensive patrols and intelligence activities across the state before the election, ensuring a climate of safety and calm for all voters.” Nweke said.

He added that Governor Soludo’s re-election represents a renewed mandate for continued progress, noting that the Governor has delivered impactful reforms across multiple sectors, especially in security, infrastructure, and youth empowerment.

Quoting Prince Ken Emeakayi, Nweke stated:“The re-election of His Excellency, Professor Charles Chukwuma Soludo, CFR, is the best possible outcome for Ndi Anambra. He has demonstrated visionary leadership and tangible achievements. As the saying goes, ‘To whom much is given, much is expected.’”

Agunechemba further called on the public to regard its operatives as partners of federal security agencies working collectively to maintain peace and order in the state.

The group urged community leaders and traditional rulers to strengthen collaboration with security agencies, reiterating that security remains a shared civic responsibility.
