25 Students Kidnapped by Bandits in Kebbi, Combined Security Operatives Deployed
Armed bandits, in the early hours of Monday, stormed the Government Girls’ Comprehensive Secondary School, Maga, in the Danko district of Danko/Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State, and kidnapped 25 students from their hostel, taking them to an unknown destination.
In a statement issued by the spokesman of the Kebbi State Police Command, CSP Nafi’u Abubakar Kotarkoshi, the bandits shot dead one Hassan Makuku (male), while another victim, Ali Shehu (male), sustained an injury to his right hand.
The statement added that the suspected bandits had scaled the school’s fence before abducting the 25 students from their hostel. It also noted that police tactical units deployed in the school engaged the attackers in a gun duel, but the bandits managed to escape.
Furthermore, the statement disclosed that a combined team of additional police tactical units, military personnel, and vigilantes has been deployed to the area. They are currently combing the bandits’ escape routes and nearby forests with a view to rescuing the abducted students and possibly arresting the perpetrators of what it described as a dastardly act.
“On 17th November, 2025, at about 0400hrs, information received revealed that a gang of armed bandits with sophisticated weapons, shooting sporadically, stormed the Government Girls’ Comprehensive Secondary School, Maga, Danko district, Danko/Wasagu LGA of Kebbi State. The police tactical units deployed in the school engaged them in a gun duel,” the statement read.
According to the Police Command, the Commissioner of Police, CP Bello M. Sani, reiterated the Command’s unwavering determination to safeguard the lives and property of residents of Kebbi State.
He also appealed to members of the public to remain calm, vigilant, and supportive of police operations to ensure the maintenance of peace and stability.
