Yuletide Security: Anambra CP Seeks Public Cooperation, Shares Officers’ Contact Numbers

The Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, CP Ikioye Orutugu, has called on members of the public to cooperate with security operatives by providing timely and useful information during the yuletide season.

As part of efforts to enhance real-time communication and ensure swift responses to distress calls throughout the festive period, the Commissioner also published the phone numbers of strategic police officers across the state.

In a statement issued on Saturday by the Command’s spokesperson, SP Ikenga Tochukwu, CP Ikioye Orutugu, FWC, MNIPS, PhD, urged residents of Anambra State to work closely with the Police and other security agencies by promptly notifying them of any planned social, cultural, religious, or public gatherings that may require security coverage.

According to the statement, the appeal followed the Command’s ongoing review of its security strategies for the festive period. The Commissioner noted that early notification allows the Police and other security agencies to plan effectively, strengthen surveillance, manage crowds, enhance public safety, prevent crime, and ensure the peaceful conduct of events across the state.

CP Orutugu explained that the yuletide season is usually characterised by increased social activities, heightened population movement, and large gatherings within communities, making proactive communication with the Police essential for the maintenance of peace and public order.

He reassured residents that the Command has activated an enhanced operational plan that includes intensified patrols, intelligence gathering, rapid response mechanisms, and robust inter-agency collaboration.

The Commissioner further encouraged community leaders, event organisers, associations, churches, traditional institutions, youth groups, and operators in the hospitality sector to maintain regular contact with their nearest police formations.

Reiterating the Command’s commitment to the safety and security of all residents and visitors during the festive season, CP Orutugu urged the public to remain law-abiding and to promptly report any suspicious activities.

For quick response and adequate security coverage, members of the public are advised to contact their respective Divisional Police Officers, Area Commanders, or the Command Control Room using the phone numbers already published by the Anambra State Police Command.
