Army Training Centre: Ebonyi Coordinator of Renewed Hope Ambassadors Applauds Tinubu

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu

From Nabob Ogbonna, Abakaliki

The Ebonyi State Coordinator of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, Barrister Eric Kelechi Igwe, has applauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for approving the establishment of a new Nigerian Army Training Centre in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State.

Igwe, a former Deputy Governor of the state from 2015 to 2023, described the approval as a landmark decision that reflects the President’s unwavering commitment to equitable development, the strengthening of national security, and inclusivity across all regions of the country.

This was contained in a statement issued yesterday and made available to Insideoutnews.

According to him, “The creation of the training centre, which will join existing depots in Kaduna and Osogbo, represents a significant step towards decentralising military training facilities and enhancing the operational readiness of the Nigerian Army.

“It will not only strengthen Nigeria’s defence capacity but also generate economic opportunities, improve infrastructure, and promote peace and stability in the Southeast region through the provision of advanced infantry training and the deployment of modern military technologies.

“This strategic move aligns with the broader agenda of your administration to modernise Nigeria’s defence forces and effectively address emerging security challenges,”.

Igwe, who currently serves as a Board Member of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), further noted that the Southeast region had long advocated for greater inclusion in national defence projects. He described the approval as a historic milestone that underscores the President’s commitment to regional equity and national unity.

“I commend your administration for recognising the importance of this project and for prioritising the welfare and security of all Nigerians,” Igwe added.

He therefore called on media organisations, Southeast stakeholders, and citizens to amplify the achievement and support the successful implementation of the initiative.
