Obi’s 2027 Presidential Ambition Is a Scam — APGA Chieftain

A chieftain of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Evangelist Chinedu Obigwe, has described the 2027 presidential ambition of former Labour Party presidential candidate in 2023 Mr. Peter Obi, as a political scam.

Obigwe, who is the National Coordinator of the APGA Media Warriors Forum, made this known in a statement released on Monday, reiterating that he has consistently maintained that Peter Obi’s presidential project lacks sincerity, clarity, and credibility.
According to him, the so-called “saintly” image cultivated around Peter Obi began to crumble when Obi openly admitted the individual who advised him to defect to the African Democratic Congress (ADC), an action Obigwe described as political suicide.
“My position remains unchanged,” “Peter Obi’s presidential ambition is a scam, and it will not work in Anambra State. Those who are hoping to ride on his name to win Senate, House of Representatives, and House of Assembly seats in Anambra will be sorely disappointed.”Obigwe stated.
He further argued that Obi’s refusal to acknowledge what he described as the unprecedented infrastructural and economic transformation currently taking place in Anambra State under Governor Chukwuma Soludo exposes what he called Obi’s bitterness and lack of statesmanship.

“Peter Obi governed Anambra State for eight years and failed to deliver the level of transformation we are witnessing today. If he deliberately shuts his eyes to these achievements and avoids commending Governor Soludo for doing what he himself could not do, it only shows that he is driven by resentment rather than love for the state,” Obigwe said.
Obigwe noted that even Agulu, Obi’s hometown, has benefitted significantly from Soludo’s administration.
He alleged that instead of appreciating these developments, Obi allegedly chose to sponsor political proxies to attack and discredit the Soludo administration in what he described as a futile effort.
“This attempt has failed,” “Governor Soludo’s achievements speak for themselves. Anyone attempting to blackmail this administration is merely wasting his time. It is like pouring water on a stone and expecting it to absorb.”Obigwe declared.

He further stated that Obi’s political relevance has continued to decline due to what he described as serial defections and ideological inconsistency.
“As of today, many Nigerians now see Peter Obi as a political drifter , moving from APGA to PDP, from PDP to Labour Party, and now flirting with ADC. One leg is in ADC, the other in Labour Party,” he said.
According to Obigwe, Obi’s reason for playing what he termed a “double game” is his fear of competing with established political heavyweights within the ADC.
“He is banking on zoning. If ADC refuses to zone the presidential ticket to the South, he will quickly return to the Labour Party and attempt to contest again, possibly retaining Datti Baba-Ahmed as his running mate,” Obigwe alleged.
He added that Baba-Ahmed is currently holding the fort in the Labour Party pending the outcome of ADC’s internal processes.
Obigwe expressed disappointment in what he described as blind emotional support for Obi’s 2027 ambition.
“I pity those who whip up childish sentiment to promote what is clearly a dead-on-arrival presidential project. Some of us will not be swayed by emotions; we are guided by political reality,” he said.
He restated APGA’s electoral goal for 2027.
“Our focus is clear: APGA is determined to win the three senatorial seats, eleven House of Representatives seats, and thirty House of Assembly seats in the 2027 elections. By the grace of God, this vision will come to pass in Jesus Christ’s name, Amen.” he added.
Obigwe also called for political maturity in Anambra State, saying:
“Enough of Peter Obi and his associates’ political scams in Anambra. Daalu nu.”
