APGA Chieftain Questions Selective Enforcement of Sit-at-Home Order in Anambra

A chieftain of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Evangelist Chinedu Obigwe, has questioned why the Monday sit-at-home order is being forcefully enforced in Anambra State while other South-East states have largely abandoned it.
Obigwe, who is the National Coordinator of the APGA Media Warriors Forum, raised the concern in a statement issued on Tuesday.
He noted that states such as Imo, Ebonyi, Enugu, and Abia have significantly relaxed the sit-at-home order, yet some individuals he described as miscreants are insisting on its continued enforcement in Anambra State.
According to him, the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and its leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, are fully in support of Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s efforts to end the Monday sit-at-home, having publicly denounced it.
Obigwe described those still promoting the sit-at-home order as enemies of Ndi Anambra and the Igbo nation at large, stressing that the policy has dealt a severe blow to the regional economy.
“Governor Soludo deserves commendation for taking bold and decisive steps to end the Monday sit-at-home,” “Those supporting a practice that has crippled Igbo economic activities are the real enemies of our people.”he said.
He further questioned the selective enforcement of the order, asking: “Why Anambra? The sit-at-home is no longer observed in Imo, Ebonyi, Enugu, and Abia, yet some elements are pushing for its continued enforcement in Anambra.”
Obigwe recalled that Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, in a widely circulated press statement, clearly stated that he does not support the Monday sit-at-home and advised the people of the South-East to discontinue it.
He dismissed claims that the sit-at-home is a civil disobedience measure to protest Kanu’s detention, describing such arguments as deceptive.
According to him, criminal elements are exploiting Kanu’s detention as an excuse to perpetrate violence and undermine the Igbo economy.
The APGA Media Warriors Forum coordinator also responded to critics who argue that Governor Soludo should focus solely on securing Kanu’s release rather than ending the sit-at-home.
He described such claims as misleading, noting that Soludo was the first Igbo governor to publicly call for the unconditional release of Nnamdi Kanu.
He revealed that upon assuming office, Governor Soludo visited Kanu at the Department of State Services (DSS) detention facility, where they held frank discussions.
He added that Soludo has remained one of the most vocal advocates for Kanu’s release to date.
“The truth remains that Nnamdi Kanu is 100 percent in support of Governor Soludo’s efforts to end the Monday sit-at-home,” “What is expected of Ndi Anambra and residents of the state is to support the governor’s efforts, as they are in the best interest of Anambra State.”Obigwe stated.
He praised Governor Soludo’s performance so far and urged citizens to support his policies to enable him to deliver more dividends of democracy.
“Say no to Monday sit-at-home and help revive our state’s economy. Governor Soludo is working tirelessly for the good of Anambra, and he deserves our full support,” he added.
