Cult Reprisal Attack: Ogidi Community President General Murdered in Open Field

The President General of Ogidi community in Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State has been murdered in what is suspected to be a cult-related reprisal attack.
The victim was killed at a school field in Ogidi on Friday, February 6, 2026, alongside another individual.
Confirming the incident, the Anambra State Police Command expressed deep regret over the killing of the President General of the Ogidi community and one other person.
In a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Ikenga Tochukwu, the command disclosed that the attack is allegedly linked to the recent arrest and killing of a notorious cultist within the community.

According to SP Ikenga, following the report, police operatives swiftly took control of the crime scene and immediately commenced investigations into the incident.
He stated that the command is currently working with eyewitness accounts and other credible intelligence to identify and apprehend those responsible for the attack.
The police spokesperson further assured members of the public that efforts have been intensified to ensure that the perpetrators are brought to justice.
He urged residents of the area to remain calm and cooperate fully with law enforcement agencies as investigations continue.
