Michael Okpara’s Son Declares Support for Otti, Urges Abians to Back 2027 Bid

Umuahia : Chief Uzodinma Okpara, son of the former Premier of the defunct Eastern Region, the late Dr. Michael Okpara, on Wednesday declared his full support for the administration of Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti.
Okpara, a former State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) during the administration of former Governor Orji Uzor Kalu, made the declaration at a news briefing held at his country home in Umuegwu Ohuhu, Umuahia North Local Government Area.
He also announced his support for Otti’s re-election bid in 2027 and called on well-meaning Abians to rally behind the governor to ensure continuity in governance and development.
Okpara commended Otti for what he described as a leadership style reminiscent of his late father’s legacy,one rooted in public service, economic transformation, agricultural advancement, and food security.
“I will campaign for Otti and mobilise as many people as possible to join me in that campaign,” Okpara said.
He noted that the governor had embarked on what he termed a “remarkable and deliberate reconstruction” of the state’s infrastructure.
He stated that Otti’s commitment to Abia’s progress was both visible and impactful.
According to him, the administration’s achievements span critical sectors, including education, healthcare, infrastructure, and human capital development.
He added that the ongoing reforms and projects have begun to yield tangible benefits for residents.
“Families are experiencing improved living conditions, and businesses are thriving due to better infrastructure and a more enabling environment,”
“Otti has laid—and continues to lay—the foundation for a prosperous Abia. Sustained advocacy and collective support are essential to consolidate these gains and ensure the successful completion of ongoing and future projects.”he said.
In his remarks, the member representing Ikwuano/Umuahia North and South Federal Constituency, Chief Obi Aguocha, described Okpara’s endorsement as a significant moral boost for elected representatives supporting the governor’s agenda.
Aguocha praised Otti’s performance across various sectors, describing him as “God-sent to Abia,” and noted that the governor assumed office with a clear vision to rebuild and reposition the state.
Other prominent personalities from Ohuhu and across the state also expressed unwavering support for the governor in their separate remarks.
Those present included the Chairman of Umuahia North Local Government Area, Mr. Smart Ihuoma; the Traditional Ruler of Oriendu Ancient Kingdom, Eze Philip Ajomiwe; and a chartered accountant, Mr. Justin Nwosu.
