CP Anambra Commends Community for Information Leading to Arrest in Murder of Pregnant Woman

The Commissioner of Police in Anambra State, CP Ikioye Orutugu, has commended members of the public for providing credible and timely information that led to the arrest of the prime suspect in the gruesome murder of a pregnant nurse whose mutilated body was discovered in Ogbunike, Oyi Local Government Area.
The suspect, identified as Chibunna Nwafor, a 26-year-old man also known as “Offonwadile,” was apprehended at his hideout in Umueri Community.
His arrest followed intensified investigations and coordinated intelligence-driven operations by the Anambra State Police Command in connection with the tragic incident.
In a statement issued on Friday, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, said the breakthrough was made possible through sustained collaboration between the police and members of the community.
He noted that actionable intelligence provided by concerned residents played a crucial role in tracking and arresting the suspect.
According to the statement, CP Orutugu, fwc, mnips, PhD, praised the community for its vigilance, cooperation, and sense of civic responsibility.
He emphasized that the Command remains resolute in its commitment to ensuring that all those involved in the heinous crime are identified, apprehended, and prosecuted in accordance with the law.
The police spokesperson further disclosed that the suspect has been transferred to a higher investigative formation for discreet and comprehensive investigation to facilitate diligent prosecution.
He added that investigations are ongoing and assured the public that further updates will be communicated as new developments emerge.
