The Governor of Anambra State, Prof. Charles Soludo, has promised to review the monthly salaries of Agunechemba operatives upward.
The governor stated that the salary increase has become imperative, given the operatives’ contributions to enhancing security in the state.
He noted that the move is intended to recognize Agunechemba’s dedication to combating banditry, which had previously plagued local communities before the deployment of the specialized Pump Action team, whose efforts have yielded positive results.
This was contained in a statement issued on Wednesday by the Media/Publicity Secretary of Agunechemba, Comrade Nweke Nweke.
Nweke said the announcement was made by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Security, Prince Ken Emeakayi, during a meeting with members of the security outfit at his office in the Old Government House, Awka.
The agency’s spokesman stated that Emeakayi used the opportunity to address members of the security outfit following his recent reappointment.
According to the statement, he urged Agunechemba operatives to foster unity, loyalty, and commitment in their fight against crime in Anambra State.
It will be recalled that Prince Ken Emeakayi completed his initial term on March 23, 2026, and was reappointed just two days later in the same role, with continued focus on security.
The statement further noted that Emeakayi expressed his willingness to forgive those who wronged him during his previous tenure.
Agunechemba boss advocated a collective departure from the negative mindset associated with the past term, for the betterment of the state.
“On behalf of the Executive Governor of Anambra State, the esteemed Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo, I want to thank all of you for rising to represent our citizens. Your courage and dedication are appreciated, and we are grateful for the outstanding service you provide to the people of Anambra State. We pray for the Almighty’s continued guidance and protection over you. I convey greetings from the Governor, who is now in his second term.
“I want to inform you that our supportive Governor intends to raise your salaries to ensure that everyone is fulfilled in their essential duties. All necessary resources for your work are being provided. We encourage proactive engagement, and while we aim to enhance your welfare, we will also enforce strict disciplinary measures.
“It will not be business as usual; a Monitoring Team has been established to supervise activities across the state and oversee operatives involved in extortion. This team will not be affiliated with our organization but will comprise members of the general public, including tricycle operators, commercial drivers, and other community stakeholders.
“We will equip the Monitoring Team with advanced media technology to capture any wrongdoing in real time, and we will not tolerate any involvement in extortion. The Governor and the leadership of our organization maintain a strict zero-tolerance policy against extortion and any actions that violate the laws governing Agunechemba,” Emeakayi said.
