Metchie’s 2027 Bid to Revive Anambra East & West
An Anambra-born international business mogul, Amb. Dr. John Metchie, has indicated his intention to provide quality representation for the Anambra East and West Federal Constituency.
He stated that the need for improved representation at the Green Chambers of the National Assembly in 2027 cannot be overemphasized.
Metchie, who spoke to our correspondent in his country home in Umueri, Anambra East Local Government Area, said he has carefully studied the situation.
His investigations, he noted, revealed that the people are clamouring for positive change in the next political dispensation.
He further disclosed that his findings showed a lack of federal presence in the constituency, adding that the people are no longer comfortable with the situation.
According to him, his ambition to serve in the House of Representatives stems from the need to emancipate the people from what he described as poor representation.
Dr. Metchie, who has earned the traditional titles of Ezi Umueri and Ife Omambala for his unwavering commitment to community development and genuine philanthropy in Anambra East and West Local Government Areas and beyond said that, as a private citizen motivated by the Public-Private-Community Partnership model of Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo, he has contributed significantly to improving the living conditions of the people in the constituency.
He stated that his interventions in security, education, healthcare, and other aspects of human and infrastructural development have brought a new lease of life to many families, especially the less privileged and vulnerable in society.
Amb. Metchie, who is also a security expert, maintained that he singlehandedly built a joint security base at the border between Anambra East and West Local Government Areas.
The base, he said, comprises military personnel and other security operatives tasked with tackling armed robbery, kidnapping, and other forms of criminality in the area.
He emphasized that the initiative has helped restore tranquility in the Omambala region, noting that the 24-hour presence of security personnel has significantly changed the narrative of incessant criminal insurgency in the area.
He reiterated that his desire to provide people-oriented representation for the constituency is driven by a selfless commitment to attract federal government presence to the region, which he described as currently lacking.
The international business mogul and House of Representatives hopeful, who had earlier congratulated Governor Soludo on his second-term inauguration, noted that the governor performed exceptionally well during his first term.
He added that this performance was the primary reason the people of Anambra re-elected him.
Metchie expressed the view that Governor Soludo’s transformative governance model should be replicated in Anambra East and West Federal Constituency.
He stated that addressing the developmental challenges in the area requires a development-oriented individual like the governor, particularly in light of the setbacks caused by poor political representation at the federal level.
He, however, reaffirmed his resolve to change the status quo if given the mandate, stressing his strong belief that Anambra East and West deserve better representation in 2027.
