As political activities ahead of the 2027 general elections begin to intensify, stakeholders in Anambra Central Senatorial District widely regarded as the political heartbeat of Anambra State have been assured of targeted empowerment for youths and women if Chief Dozie Nwankwo (Onyendozi) is elected into the Senate.
Nwankwo, popularly known as Onyendozi (“the great builder”), formally declared his intention to contest the Anambra Central Senate seat in the forthcoming 2027 elections.
He made this known in his Easter message to constituents, outlining a vision anchored on inclusive development and strategic representation.
A widely regarded grassroots politician, Nwankwo stated that his decision to seek a return to the National Assembly, this time as a senator is driven by a desire to leverage his legislative experience, political networks, and understanding of national governance for the benefit of his constituents, Anambra State, and the wider South-East geopolitical zone.
Reflecting on his tenure in the House of Representatives, he said that his years in the Green Chamber equipped him with critical legislative skills, including negotiation, coalition-building, and effective advocacy for constituency-focused initiatives.
According to him, these competencies would be deployed more strategically at the Senate level to attract development and influence policy outcomes.
He further stressed that youths and women would form the cornerstone of his legislative agenda, promising deliberate policies and programs aimed at economic empowerment, capacity building, and expanded opportunities for both groups.
Nwankwo also called for broad-based support from stakeholders within and beyond the senatorial district, noting that collective political will would be essential to achieving meaningful representation and sustainable development.
Reaffirming his commitment, Onyendozi pledged to utilize the opportunities provided by the Senate platform to drive socio-economic transformation across the district, with particular emphasis on uplifting the living standards of youths and women.
The Anambra Central Senatorial District comprises Njikoka, Anaocha, Awka North, and Awka South Local Government Areas, as well as Dunukofia, Idemili North, and Idemili South Local Government Areas.
