APGA Will Support Tinubu’s Re-election Not Other APC Candidates, Says APGA Chieftain Obigwe

A chieftain of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in Anambra State, Evangelist Chinedu Obigwe, has declared that the party will support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election, but will not extend such support to candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in other contests.

Obigwe made this position known following the stance of the party’s national leader and Governor of Anambra State, Professor Charles Chukwuma Soludo, stating that APGA remains “unapologetic” in its backing of President Tinubu.

Speaking in a statement he personally issued on Sunday in Awka, the Anambra State capital, Obigwe—who serves as the National Coordinator of the APGA Media Warriors Forum—emphasized that APGA is fully focused on securing victories in all legislative elections within the state.

According to him, winning seats in the Senate, House of Representatives, and Anambra State House of Assembly is non-negotiable for the party.

He cautioned the public against what he described as “misleading campaigns” by opposition politicians in the state, alleging that such efforts are aimed at creating confusion about APGA’s political alignment.

Obigwe, who holds the traditional titles of Akaekpuchionwa and Chinyelugo I of Ogbaru, specifically accused an APC House of Representatives aspirant, Maxwell S. C. Okoye, of circulating a misleading campaign poster on social media.

The poster reportedly features images of Governor Soludo, President Tinubu, and Okoye, with claims that “progressives are working together.”

He dismissed the move as deceptive, asserting that it is an attempt to exploit Governor Soludo’s position for political gain.

According to Obigwe, “The ‘progressives working together’ declaration by our governor strictly refers to the working relationship between the Anambra State Government and the Tinubu administration at the federal level, as well as APGA’s support for the President.

“It does not, in any way, imply that Governor Soludo is supporting APC aspirants contesting for Senate, House of Representatives, or House of Assembly seats in Anambra State.”

He further clarified that Governor Soludo will lead the campaign for President Tinubu’s re-election in the state, while APGA will independently field and promote its own candidates for all legislative positions.

“In Anambra, the position is clear: Tinubu for President; APGA for Senate, House of Representatives, and House of Assembly seats,” Obigwe stated.
