APGA Draws the Line, Bans Political Support Groups From Screening
Support groups, political associates, and aides of aspirants seeking tickets for the Senate, House of Representatives, and State House of Assembly under the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in Anambra State have been barred from the venue of the party’s screening exercise at the National Headquarters of the party in Abuja.
The party stated that only accredited individuals would be granted access to the screening venue in order to ensure a smooth, orderly, and transparent exercise.
According to the timetable released by the party, the screening of aspirants for the Senate and House of Representatives is scheduled to hold on Monday, May 11, 2026, while aspirants for the State House of Assembly will be screened on Tuesday, May 12, 2026.
APGA also warned against any form of extortion, inducement, or monetary demands during the screening process, stressing that the exercise is entirely free of charge.
The party said it would strictly enforce its Code of Conduct and would not tolerate any attempt by individuals or committees to solicit or collect money from aspirants under any guise.
The party advised any aspirant or stakeholder confronted with demands for payment to immediately report such incidents to the Screening Committee or the National Secretariat for disciplinary and consequential action.
In a statement issued by the National Publicity Secretary of APGA, Mazi Ejimofor Opara, the party outlined key guidelines for the exercise.
The statement read:“Access Restriction: Only members of the Screening Committee and duly cleared aspirants shall be granted access to the screening venues.
“All other persons, including supporters, aides, associates, and political loyalists, are strictly advised to stay away from the venues to ensure orderliness and prevent unnecessary interference with the screening process.
“Documents Required: Aspirants must appear in person with the original copies of the certificates of their highest academic qualifications for verification by the Screening Committee. Photocopies or certified true copies will not be accepted in place of the original documents.
“The APGA screening exercise is absolutely free of charge. No aspirant is required to pay, or should pay, any amount of money to any individual, group, or committee under any guise whatsoever.
“Any demand for payment or inducement should be reported immediately to the National Secretariat for prompt investigation and necessary action.
“The schedule for the screening of aspirants from states outside Anambra State shall be communicated in due course through official party communication channels.
“All aspirants are advised to adhere strictly to the approved dates, time, and requirements for the exercise.”
