The Anambra State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential primary election on Saturday witnessed a massive turnout across most electoral wards in the state.

Our correspondent, who monitored the exercise across various local government areas in the Anambra North, Central, and South Senatorial Districts, observed that party members arrived early at their respective wards in preparation for the election.

In most wards, party faithful had gathered as early as 7:23 a.m., while officials responsible for the conduct of the exercise arrived shortly afterwards. Voting eventually commenced at about 9:47 a.m.

However, in some areas, the exercise did not begin until about 11:00 a.m. due to the large number of registered party members who patiently queued to participate in the process.

Speaking shortly after the primary election, the Chairman of the APC in Anambra State, Senator Emma Anosike, expressed satisfaction with both the turnout and the peaceful conduct of the exercise.

Anosike, who monitored the election in different parts of the state, described the turnout as a clear demonstration of the renewed commitment of party members towards ensuring the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027.

“You have seen the level of participation across the state. This marks a new dawn for our party in Anambra State. As I moved round the wards, I was overwhelmed by the turnout. Even members of other political parties were surprised by the huge number of people who came out to vote,”

“Gone are the days when the APC was viewed as a weak political force in the state. The ongoing mobilization efforts and the online registration of members have significantly strengthened the party’s grassroots presence.”he said.

According to him, the success of the exercise is an indication of what to expect in the 2027 general elections.

“This turnout clearly shows the direction the 2027 general elections will take. The success recorded today is also a reflection of the quality and credibility of candidates presented by the party for the State and National Assembly elections,” he added.

Anosike also dismissed the confidence being expressed by opposition political parties in the state, insisting that the APC remained focused and prepared for future electoral victories.

“Other political parties are only trying to console themselves ahead of what will eventually become their political disappointment next year. When the time comes, it will be clear that APC has firmly established itself as a major political force in the state,” he stated.

He commended the Presidential Primary Election Committee, particularly the Coordinator and Collation Officer for Anambra State, Senator Uche Ekwunife, for what he described as their diligence, transparency, and commitment to the successful conduct of the exercise.

“I want to sincerely thank the committee members, especially Senator Uche Ekwunife, for their dedication and professionalism in ensuring a smooth and credible primary election in Anambra State,” he said.

The APC chairman further urged party faithful to sustain the same level of loyalty, commitment, and mobilization ahead of the 2027 general elections.

He called on members of the party to work collectively towards delivering President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, as well as all APC candidates contesting at various levels of the elections.
