The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate for the Idemili North and South Federal Constituency, Engr. Eric Nnamdi Anyamene has congratulated Ndi Idemili and Nigerians on the occasion of the 2026 Democracy Day celebration, describing June 12 as a powerful symbol of the people’s will, democratic resilience, and the enduring struggle for good governance.
In a Democracy Day message made available to journalists, Anyamene, popularly known as Ezenwa Obosi, paid tribute to the courageous patriots whose sacrifices and commitment to democratic ideals laid the foundation for the freedoms and civil liberties Nigerians enjoy today.
He noted that democracy extends beyond the conduct of elections, stressing that its true essence lies in accountable governance, transparency, citizen participation, and leadership that prioritizes the welfare of the people.
“June 12 reminds us that every voice matters and that leadership must remain accessible, responsive, transparent, and people-oriented,” Anyamene stated.
“Democracy can only thrive when elected leaders remain accountable to those who entrusted them with power. Our people deserve effective representation that not only listens to their concerns but also translates their aspirations into tangible development and measurable progress.”he said.
The NDC candidate expressed appreciation to party faithful, supporters, and constituents across Idemili North and South for their unwavering trust, encouragement, and commitment to the movement for responsible leadership. According to him, their support continues to strengthen his resolve to serve with humility, integrity, and dedication.
Anyamene further reaffirmed his commitment to championing policies and legislative initiatives that will advance quality education, youth empowerment, accessible healthcare, infrastructural development, job creation, and sustainable economic opportunities across the constituency if elected into the House of Representatives.
He emphasized that the people of Idemili deserve a representative who will not only speak for them on the floor of the National Assembly but will also effectively advocate for their interests, attract development projects, and ensure that the dividends of democracy reach every community.
As Nigerians commemorate Democracy Day, Anyamene called on Ndi Idemili to renew their commitment to peaceful political participation, unity, civic responsibility, and mutual respect, irrespective of political affiliations.
“Together, by the grace of God, we can build a stronger, more prosperous, and more united Idemili where leadership is defined by service, accountability, and results, and where every citizen is given the opportunity to thrive and realize their full potential,” he said.
