75 Wives Scandal: Anambra Govt Confirms Pastor’s Arrest

The Anambra State Government has confirmed the arrest of Pastor Harrison Charles, the founder and owner of Day Spring Assembly in Awada, Onitsha.

The cleric is accused of allegedly luring and converting as many as 75 married women from their husbands and taking them as his wives.

An investigation by Insideoutnews revealed that several allegations, mostly in video form, have flooded social media, with several victims making confessions and accusations against the pastor.

According to the allegations, the clergyman allegedly engaged in practices that included swapping wives among members of his congregation and taking other men’s wives as his own.

Since the Anambra State Government began its crackdown on fake pastors—a move that has already led to the arraignment of eight suspects in court many alleged victims have come forward to recount their experiences and ordeals in the hands of such individuals.

There had been controversy surrounding reports of Pastor Harrison Charles’ arrest, with some people claiming that he had not been taken into custody.

However, the Special Adviser to the Governor of Anambra State on Media, Dr. Ejimofor Opara, confirmed in a Facebook post that the pastor had indeed been arrested by operatives of the state government.

Dr. Opara further disclosed that the suspect had been handed over to the police and that a joint investigation involving the Anambra State Government and the Anambra State Police Command was already underway.

He also called on members of the public with relevant information regarding the pastor’s activities to come forward and share their testimonies with the Special Adviser to the Governor on Community Security, Mr. Ken Emeakayi.

According to Dr. Opara:”Pastor Harrison Charles, owner of Day Spring Assembly in Awada, Onitsha, was arrested by operatives of Agunechemba following a viral video containing several allegations against him.

“He is currently being investigated by the police in collaboration with the Anambra State Government.

“During his arrest, about eleven babies were found in his residence. He claims to be the father of the eleven children, stating that they were born by eleven of his wives.”
