Nonye Soludo Celebrates Bountiful Organic Maize Harvest at Healthy Living Farm
Dr. Mrs. Nonye Soludo, the First Lady of Anambra State, has commenced the harvest of maize from the Healthy Living Farm at the Lighthouse in Awka, Anambra State.
According to her, they recently had the joy of harvesting a bountiful maize crop from their Healthy Living Farm, describing the harvest as a meaningful reminder that healthy living begins with the choices people make every day.
The First Lady, who is the founder of the Healthy Living with Nonye Soludo initiative, explained that the harvest is the product of organic, non-GMO farming practices that reflect the values the initiative has consistently promoted over the years.
She noted that the initiative has continued to encourage people to eat fresh, natural foods and embrace healthy lifestyles that nourish the body while protecting the environment.
According to her, “Healthy Living is not just a message to be shared; it is a way of life that must be practised consistently. I believe that when we grow what we eat and choose wholesome, naturally cultivated foods, we invest in stronger families, healthier communities, and a brighter future for our children. Every harvest tells a story of patience, consistency, responsible stewardship of the land, and the rewards of making the right choices.”
Dr. Soludo further stated that the successful harvest demonstrates the benefits of sustainable agriculture, particularly organic farming methods that improve soil health, conserve biodiversity, and produce safe, nutritious food without reliance on genetically modified organisms or harmful chemical inputs.
The Governor’s wife encouraged every household to embrace home gardening and support sustainable agricultural practices in whatever way possible.
She stressed that even small backyard gardens can contribute significantly to household food security, better nutrition, and improved family health.
She added that by doing what is right, people can rediscover the richness of nature, promote healthy eating, strengthen local food systems, and build a culture where good health begins on the farm and extends to every dining table.
“Healthy Living is possible, and it begins with each of us. Make it a vital habit today,” she said.
