Anambra APC Crisis: Party Sets Up 5-Member Reconciliation Committee

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has constituted a five-member Fact-Finding Committee to investigate the lingering leadership crisis within the party in Anambra State.
The decision was contained in a communiqué issued at the end of a stakeholders’ meeting held in Abuja at the instance of the party’s Deputy National Organising Secretary, Barr. Emeka Okafor, who convened the meeting.
Chief Azuka Okwuosa was appointed Chairman of the committee, while Dr. (Mrs.) Oby Orah will serve as Secretary. Other members are Chief Basil Iwuoba, Hon. Dr. Justin Nwankwo, and Prince Tony Ezeimo.
Insideoutnews gathered that prior to the commencement of the meeting, security operatives foiled an attempt to disrupt the proceedings after some expelled members of the party, who were not invited, allegedly attempted to gain access to the venue.
The incident reportedly occurred when Chief Ifeanyi Osegbo and Hon. Arinze Awogu arrived at the venue accompanied by a large number of persons.
Organisers alleged that several of those who accompanied them presented invitation cards that were not recognised by the planning committee and whose names did not appear on the accredited list of participants.
Security personnel were subsequently invited to manage the situation and escort the unaccredited individuals out of the venue.
Calm was thereafter restored, allowing the meeting to proceed peacefully.
Serving as moderator, Barr. C. J. Chinwuba reminded participants that issues currently before the courts were sub judice and, therefore, should not be discussed during the meeting.
He urged speakers to focus on constructive proposals, reconciliation, and practical solutions capable of moving the party beyond its current challenges.
In her opening remarks, Senator Uche Ekwunife passionately advocated genuine reconciliation among party members.
She stressed that peace must go beyond mere rhetoric and be demonstrated through sincere actions, mutual respect, and deliberate efforts to rebuild trust within the party.
Ekwunife also urged APC candidates and party leaders to embrace issue-based politics, strengthen grassroots mobilisation, and work collectively towards repositioning the party for future electoral success.
In his address, Barr. Emeka Okafor reaffirmed the commitment of the party’s national leadership to facilitating lasting peace within the Anambra State chapter.
He announced the constitution of a five-member Fact-Finding Committee mandated to engage all relevant stakeholders, objectively examine the concerns raised by various interest groups, and make recommendations that would promote enduring peace, strengthen internal democracy, and guarantee institutional stability within the party.
According to the 13-point communiqué issued at the end of the meeting, stakeholders reaffirmed their unwavering commitment to the unity, peace, progress, and electoral success of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Anambra State.
The stakeholders unanimously resolved that, while pursuing internal mechanisms to resolve the party’s challenges, they would work assiduously to deliver the highest possible votes from Anambra State for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.
The meeting acknowledged that the internal challenges confronting the party require sincere dialogue, reconciliation, mutual respect, and strict adherence to the APC Constitution.
Participants also endorsed Senator Uche Ekwunife’s call for all party leaders and members to embrace genuine reconciliation, speak truthfully to one another, and work collectively towards rebuilding a stronger, more united APC in Anambra State.
The meeting further resolved that all stakeholders should respect the directives of the Deputy National Organising Secretary and cooperate fully with every initiative aimed at achieving lasting peace and stability within the party.
Stakeholders equally adopted the recommendation of the Convener, Barr. Emeka Okafor, and the aggregate views expressed during the meeting for the constitution of a five-member Fact-Finding Committee to comprehensively examine the issues affecting the Anambra State chapter of the party and recommend sustainable solutions.
According to its terms of reference, the committee is expected to consult extensively with critical stakeholders, including party leaders, members of the State Executive Committee, Local Government and Ward Executives, women, youths, and other relevant interest groups.
It is expected to submit recommendations aimed at promoting lasting peace, strengthening internal democracy, enhancing institutional stability, and positioning the party for electoral victory.
The meeting also urged all APC members in Anambra State to refrain from actions capable of deepening divisions and instead support every genuine effort aimed at restoring peace, confidence, unity, and cohesion within the party.
