Otti Welcomes Egyptian Firm’s Drug Plant Investment

The Governor of Abia State, Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, has expressed delight over the proposed establishment of a drug manufacturing plant in the state by an Egyptian pharmaceutical company.
Governor Otti made this known in a post on his X handle after receiving a delegation from Utopia, an Egyptian pharmaceutical company, led by Dr. Kamel Mohamed.
The visit was facilitated by Eze Apostle Gift Chibuzor Chinyere.
Speaking on the proposed investment, the governor described the initiative as a major step toward industrial growth and economic development in Abia State.
“I am excited about their proposal to establish a drug manufacturing plant in Abia State. Beyond selling products, this is about production, job creation, technology transfer, and boosting our state’s GDP,” he said.
Governor Otti reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting the investment, emphasizing that the state government would provide an enabling environment for the project to thrive.
According to him, the government will allocate land for the proposed facility and encourage the investors to consider the Ukwa or Osisioma axis, where a stable electricity supply is available through Geometric Power.
He noted that reliable power is a critical factor for pharmaceutical manufacturing and would significantly enhance the success and sustainability of the project.
The governor further stated that the partnership has the potential to position Abia as a leading hub for advanced pharmaceutical manufacturing and technology in Nigeria and across West Africa.
“Our administration will give every necessary support to ensure its success,” he stated.
