Ebelechukwu International School Nkpor Takes National Spelling Contest by Storm, Targets Africa

Ebelechukwu International Group of Schools, Nkpor, in Idemili-North Local Government Area of Anambra State, has taken the education sector by storm following its sterling performance at a national quiz competition recently held in Lagos State.

The school, which has been in operation for over a decade, has continued to distinguish itself among schools in Anambra State by winning statewide competitions and gaining momentum as a trailblazer in the state’s education sector.

Director and Proprietor of Ebelechukwu International Group of Schools, Akuzor Village, Nkpor, Chief Timothy Ebelechukwu Chukwukelu, who narrated the story of how the school was established at a brief reception ceremony for the contingent held at the school’s newest two-storey building extension, said the institution was founded with a vision to provide qualitative education for every stratum of society, especially children from the poorest of the poor.

Before venturing into the education sector, Chief Timothy Ebelechukwu Chukwukelu recalled, with hindsight, his philanthropic activities across the Nkpor community, where he single-handedly provided borehole water facilities in villages, towns, and churches, irrespective of denomination.

According to him, 191 schools participated in the national competition, and at the end of the contest, Ebelechukwu International Group of Schools emerged as the second runner-up.

He noted that the achievement was indeed a great feat for the school, the Nkpor community, Idemili-North Local Government Area, Anambra State, and the nation at large.

The Director, who disclosed that it was the first time the school had participated in such a high-profile competition, noted that the victory was a product of hard work, resilience, and team spirit.

He added that the students and their teachers worked assiduously to secure national recognition for Ebelechukwu International Group of Schools.

The Principal of the Junior Section of Ebelechukwu International Group of Schools, Campus 3, Umunya, Oyi Local Government Area, and Coordinator of the competition, Mr. Roland Nwekeson, said the students were adequately trained and prepared for the competition.

He explained that, at the end of the programme, the students emerged among the best three schools in the national spelling competition, out of 191 schools that participated across the country.

According to him, the achievement is an indication that the future of the school is bright, adding that its next target is to conquer the African continent and, ultimately, the rest of the world.

Meanwhile, the team leader of the student contingent to the national spelling competition in Lagos State, Miss Chikamso Genevieve Ngwu, an SS2 student of Ebelechukwu International Group of Schools, described the competition as exceptional, noting that it was different from the inter-campus, local, and state competitions in which the school had previously participated.

She said that, this time, the school participated in a competition that provided the students with the opportunity to meet and compete against brilliant students from different states of the federation.

Miss Ngwu confessed that the three-day competition was very tasking, but said they eventually made it to the top through hard work, commitment, God’s grace, adequate preparation, and prayers.

For Mr. Ausca Atiata, Principal of Ebelechukwu International Group of Schools, Campus 1, the school is passionate about raising the total child.
Atiata stated that the school had always performed successfully in the competitions it had participated in, noting that its success stories had been built on the foundations of hard work, passion, and commitment.
According to him, every child registered at Ebelechukwu International Group of Schools is well taken care of in terms of education, moral standards, and overall development.
He further disclosed that when the school team went for the preliminary stage of the competition in Obosi, they emerged victorious and subsequently proceeded to Lagos State for the national contest, where they were subjected to various rigorous stages of competition before emerging with flying colours among 191 schools from across Nigeria.
Mr. Atiata, who expressed optimism that Ebelechukwu International Group of Schools would replicate its national honour at African school quiz competitions, said the school was poised for global recognition because it remained seriously committed and passionate about raising world-class scholars for the international market.
