2027 POLL: Hon. Ebuka Igwe Expresses Confidence Of being Re-elected

The incumbent member representing Idemili South Constituency in the Anambra State House of Assembly, Hon. Ebuka Igwe, Esq, has expressed optimism that he would be re-elected to represent his constituency in the forthcoming 2027 election.
Hon. Igwe added that he emerged as the candidate in the primary election conducted by the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) to run for a second tenure.
He spoke to journalists in Onitsha after a seminar organized by the Farmtech Business Forum (FBF) themed “Strengthening Strategies For Food Security Through Estate Farming, Technology and Industrialization.”
Hon. Igwe confidently stated that his constituency would always vote for him following the numerous dividends of democracy and quality representation he has attracted to them.
“The reward for good work is more work,” he said.
He recalled that this year’s primary election was directly conducted by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and was open to all members of the political party. This, he said, was a departure from the past when three to four delegates would decide the winner.
The lawmaker revealed that he polled over 7,000 votes to emerge winner of the APGA primary election. He recalled that he also won the 2023 general election with about 7,000 votes.
“The primary election was like a pre-election. So, I have confidence that my people would always vote for me,”he stated.
Hon. Igwe, who is a lawyer, dismissed the notion by some people that lawmakers are rubber stamps. He stressed that good governance must not be by war or conflict with the Executive Arm of Government.
“In a civilized society, there are better ways of getting things done than physical combat which Nigerians would always like to hear. The average Nigerian would always like to hear that the House of Assembly and the Executive Arm of Government are fighting, doing this or that. But that is not what we are doing,” he declared.
“Anambra lawmakers have grown past the level of having physical conflict to be able to get what we want. The Anambra State House of Assembly today has remained one of the most productive Houses of Assembly across the nation. Within these three years in office, we have passed about forty bills and above, and all of them have been assented to by the Governor. That shows you that there is a good working relationship,” Hon. Igwe maintained.
Commenting on the Farmtech Business Forum (FBF) seminar, Hon. Igwe described it as commendable and a welcome development in Anambra State.
He reaffirmed that some people are interested in farming business but lack space to cultivate. He suggested that farmers should be protected by enacting laws that cover them.
He noted that the seminar was specifically on strategies for food security, which according to him is a responsibility for everybody. He praised the organizer, *Nelson Nwaenyi, whom he described as his personal friend, for initiating the idea and pledged to continue supporting him.
