Ex-Anambra Lawmaker, Okoye, Endorses Dozie Nwankwo, Backs Tinubu for 2027

Former member of the Anambra State House of Assembly that represented Njikoka State Constituency, Hon. George Okoye, has urged other presidential candidates and their supporters in the 2027 general elections not to spend excessively on their campaigns, expressing confidence that the incumbent President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, will emerge victorious.
Hon. Okoye also declared his support for Hon. Dozie Nwankwo’s bid for the Anambra Central Senatorial District in the 2027 elections.
According to Okoye, candidates contesting against President Tinubu should avoid excessive campaign expenditure, warning them, in his characteristic political style, not to spend so much that they would be left heartbroken at the end of the election.
He predicted what he described as a landslide victory for President Tinubu and his “true allies” in Anambra State, whom he identified as members and supporters of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).
The former lawmaker said he was fully in support of President Tinubu’s bid for a second term in office, describing him as the “Asiwaju of Lagos.”
“I hereby endorse Dozie Nwankwo for Senate, Anambra Central, 2027, and, for that matter, the other two APGA senatorial candidates, the eleven House of Representatives flag bearers, and the thirty House of Assembly candidates in the forthcoming electoral contest.
“The reason is simple: His Excellency, Governor Chukwuma Soludo, is the only force truly backing Tinubu for President, and I am fully in support of a second term for the Asiwaju of Lagos.” he said.
Okoye further argued that it would constitute a grave affront to the dignity and sense of equity of Southern Nigerians if efforts were made to return former Vice President Atiku Abubakar to the presidency, given that, in his view, the North had already benefited from President Muhammadu Buhari’s two terms in office.
“It will amount to a gargantuan affront to the dignity of every Southern Nigerian if the Northern elders succeed in installing Atiku Abubakar, knowing full well that we gave Buhari his full eight years in the immediate past administration.
“Equity is equality, and dignity matters.” he said.
He buttressed his position with an Igbo proverb:
“Anya dị dike n’agha, dịkwa n’egwuregwu, nsogbu dịkwa.”
He explained the proverb as meaning that a person who attempts to focus simultaneously on two competing objectives risks failing in both.
“So, I have chosen to keep my life simple by boarding the moving train, irrespective of my affiliation to the ruling party,” he said.
Addressing candidates of the opposition parties, Okoye reiterated his advice that they should exercise caution with their campaign spending.
“For the candidates of the other parties, I have just one piece of advice: Don’t spend too much in these polls, so that you will not be heartbroken at the end of the election. It shall be a landslide victory for Tinubu and his true allies in Anambra State—the APGA, that is.

“Because I have the Midas touch. Everything I touch turns to gold.
