The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Jezco Group of Companies, Chief J. J. Ezeokafor, has been released by his abductors.
Ezeokafor was released alongside a Reverend Sister who was abducted earlier.
According to the family, Ezeokafor was released in the early hours of Saturday, August 15, 2026.
The Anambra State Police Command confirmed their release in a statement issued on Saturday morning by its spokesperson, SP Tochukwu Ikenga.
“The Anambra State Police Command confirms that, today, 15th August 2026, Chief J. J. Ezeokafor and a Rev. Sister, who were earlier abducted by armed criminals at Ifite-Awka, have been released and have safely returned,” Ikenga said.
According to Ikenga, the command is currently taking necessary steps to establish the circumstances surrounding their release and obtain relevant information that will assist ongoing investigations and aid in identifying the perpetrators.
He said the Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, CP Nnanna Oji Ama, while commending the safe return of the victims, had directed intensified intelligence-led operations and a manhunt for those responsible for the abduction.
Ikenga disclosed that the ongoing operation involves the Police, Department of State Services (DSS), the military, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Agunechemba security operatives, and other relevant security agencies.
He said the command appreciates members of the public for their support and cooperation, urging them to remain vigilant and provide credible and timely information that could assist security agencies in apprehending the perpetrators.
