171 Wards, 13 LGAs: EBSIEC Vows Free, Fair Ebonyi Council Polls

The Ebonyi state Independent Electoral Commission (EBSIEC) on Thursday said it is set to conduct a free and fair local government elections in all the existing 171 political wards in the state.

The Chairman of EBSIEC, Mr. Enyi Patrick made this known while briefing journalists ahead of the elections which is slated to take place on Saturday 22nd August, 2026.

He explained that Africa Democratic Congress (ADC), Labour Party (LP) and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) would feature in the elections.

According to him, “EBSIEC is therefore committed towards the conduct a free, fair and credible elections come this Saturday 22nd August 2026 in the 13 local government areas and the existing 171 wards of the state.

“Again, EBSIEC is also using the opportunity to urge the supporters and candidates involved in the elections to shun violence and play by the rules.

“In the elections, we have three political parties and others that filled their candidates.

“One is African Democratic Congress (ADC), Labour Party and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) among others.

“And I also what to make it known that we have gotten all sensitive materials for the elections,

Also, our situation room would be fuly activated at the day of the elections by 7 ,”he stated.

The EBSIEC boss further noted that voting would start by 8 am and end 3pm.
