First Lady of Anambra Commends Idemili South Mayor for Empowerment Initiative

The First Lady of Anambra State, Dr. Mrs. Nonye Soludo, has commended the Mayor of Idemili South Local Government Area, Mrs. Amaka Obi, for her commitment to empowering residents and positively impacting lives across the council area.

The wife of the Anambra State Governor also expressed her appreciation to everyone who contributed to making the empowerment initiative a remarkable success.

Dr. Mrs. Nonye Soludo, founder of Healthy Living with Nonye Soludo, stated that she was particularly grateful for the warm reception accorded her and the opportunity to share another memorable moment with the women of Idemili South.

The First Lady made the remarks when she joined the people of Idemili South Local Government Area at their 2026 August Meeting and Empowerment Summit, organised by the Mayor of the Council, Mrs. Amaka Obi.

According to her, the most striking aspect of the event was its strong emphasis on providing beneficiaries with practical means of livelihood.

“What particularly touched me about today’s event was the emphasis on supporting the beneficiaries with practical means of livelihood. From sewing machines and baking ovens to salon equipment, motorcycles, shuttle buses and financial support for petty traders, the programme speaks to an important truth: when we equip the right hands to earn, create and grow, we strengthen entire families and communities.
“I must commend the Mayor of Idemili South and everyone who contributed to making this spectacular initiative possible. I am especially grateful for the warm welcome and the opportunity to share another memorable moment with our mothers and sisters.
“I am hopeful that the skills, tools and support provided today will become seeds of prosperity for many families. And, as I always emphasise, a woman empowered is a family strengthened, a community transformed and a future secured.” she added.

Dr. Soludo’s remarks underscored the broader significance of the empowerment programme, particularly its focus on equipping women and other beneficiaries with sustainable tools and resources that can translate into economic independence, stronger households and improved livelihoods.
The initiative, which featured the distribution of various livelihood-support items and financial assistance, reflects the importance of community-based empowerment in creating opportunities for individuals to become self-reliant and contribute meaningfully to the development of their families and communities.
