COOUTH Takes Physiotherapy Awareness to the Streets, Marks 2026 World Physiotherapy Day

The management of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital (COOUTH), Amaku, Awka, led by the Chief Medical Director (CMD), Dr. Maureen Uche Umeakuewulu, on Tuesday staged a community walk as part of activities marking 2026 World Physiotherapy Day.

According to the Chief Medical Director, Dr. Maureen Uche Umeakuewulu, who led members of the hospital community on a road walk and awareness campaign, the activities were organised to highlight the importance of physiotherapy in promoting health, mobility, and quality of life.

“The sensitisation walk brought together members of the Nigerian Union of Allied Health Professionals (NUAHP), the COOUTH Physiotherapy Department, as well as members of the COOUTH Management Team, all united in raising awareness about the vital role physiotherapy plays in healthcare,” she said.

The CMD said that at COOUTH, they celebrate their physiotherapists and all they do to help patients regain strength, mobility, independence, and confidence.

“Once again, we wish our physiotherapists a happy and impactful World Physiotherapy Day,” she said.
