Gov Otti Appoints Ogah, Agbazuere, Ex-APC Candidate for Abia LP’s 2027 Campaign Advisory Council

By Titus Eleweke
Abia State Governor, Dr Alex Otti, has appointed former Minister of State for Mines and Steel Development, Dr Uche Ogah; former Chief of Staff to the Abia State Government, Prof. A.C.B. Agbazuere; and former All Progressives Congress (APC) House of Representatives candidate, Chief Daniel Okeke, into the Abia State Labour Party Campaign Advisory Council ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The appointments bring prominent political figures from different backgrounds into the Labour Party’s campaign structure as the party prepares for the 2027 elections.
The council, which comprises seasoned politicians, former public officeholders, technocrats, legal practitioners and grassroots stakeholders drawn from the state’s 17 local government areas, is scheduled for inauguration on Sunday, November 1, 2026.
According to a statement issued on Monday, October 26, by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Citizen Ukoha Njoku Ukoha, the inauguration will take place at the Umuahia Township Stadium as part of activities marking the formal commencement of the Labour Party’s governorship campaign.
The event will begin with a church service, while members of the newly constituted council are expected to be seated by 12 noon.
The council will be chaired by former Deputy Governor of Abia State and former Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Ude Oko Chukwu.
Other prominent members include former Senator Chris Adighije; Senior Advocates of Nigeria (SANs), Dr Monday Ubani, Ken Ahia and Chief Umeh Kalu; Chief Ncheta Omerekpe; Chief Johnson Chukwu; Engr. Enyinnaya Nwafor; Senator Bob Nwannunu; Rt. Hon. Arua Arunsi; Ambassador Okey Emuchay; Chief Leslie Ezeikpe; and Chief Jackson Agbai.
The inclusion of Ogah, Agbazuere and Okeke is notable against the backdrop of preparations for the 2027 elections, particularly as political parties seek to consolidate their structures and draw experienced political actors into their campaign organisations.
Ogah, who hails from Uturu in Isuikwuato Local Government Area, previously served as Minister of State for Mines and Steel Development.
Agbazuere, an indigene of Isiala Ngwa South, served as Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice in Abia State before becoming Chief of Staff to the state government.
Okeke, who hails from Arochukwu, contested the Arochukwu/Ohafia Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives on the platform of the APC during the 2023 general elections.
He recently announced his decision to join the Labour Party.
Their inclusion in the advisory council, alongside other political stakeholders from across the state, forms part of the party’s effort to bring together individuals with political experience, professional expertise and grassroots connections ahead of the elections.
Governor Otti, while congratulating the appointees, urged them to deploy their experience, dedication and grassroots influence towards the party’s campaign preparations and electoral objectives.
The governor expressed confidence that the council would contribute meaningfully to the party’s preparations and its ambition to secure victory in the 2027 general elections.
The November 1 inauguration is expected to bring together Labour Party leaders, supporters and political stakeholders from across Abia State as the party formally begins its governorship campaign activities.
