SIDEC Remains Committed to Its Mandate – Executive Director

Ugochi Ehiahuruike, Executive Director of the Social and Integral Development Centre (SIDEC), reaffirmed the organization’s steadfast commitment to its mandate of fostering an egalitarian society where the rights of all individuals are protected, regardless of gender.

Ehiahuruike made this declaration while addressing guests at her birthday celebration and the official opening of SIDEC’s new office in Awka.

During the event, she elaborated on the organization’s mandate and activities. “SIDEC is a registered non-governmental organization focused on strategic research and advocacy. Our work is extensive. We have conducted numerous capacity-building programs for leadership, including managing difficult colleagues and supervisors.

“We have also engaged significantly in taxation issues, ensuring that taxpayers’ money serves their interests. Our vision is to create a society that promotes strategic leadership, justice, equity, and sustainable development.”she said .

Ehiahuruike emphasized that SIDEC is dedicated to ensuring governance benefits all members of society,the poor, the wealthy, and persons with disabilities alike.

“We strive to secure justice for victims of abuse and gender-based violence. Our commitment is to create a society that works for everyone, irrespective of gender or race. We envision a society that truly supports the poor, the young, and the marginalized.” she said.

She further explained that SIDEC’s core values are transparency and accountability, integrity, love, justice, partnership for sustainability, and the dignity of all persons.

“Our ideal society is one in which everyone is free to achieve their potential. Achieving this requires collective effort. We need each and every one of you to help us fulfill our mandate,” she added.

Guests at the event lauded SIDEC’s impact and accomplishments, highlighting its “Tax for Service” project, which has significantly increased citizens’ awareness and understanding of taxation.

The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Economic Planning and Budget, Mrs. Chinyere Nwabachili, expressed appreciation for SIDEC’s contributions in Anambra State.

“SIDEC is a remarkable NGO that is driving societal growth. I especially commend your Tax for Service project.

“Ugochi is a reliable partner to our ministry and a beloved figure admired by many. As the coordinating ministry, we value the contributions she makes to our programs and initiatives. Ugochi’s reputation extends beyond Anambra State; she is recognized globally. Our recent trip to Abuja only deepened my appreciation of her work.”she said.

Similarly, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Women Affairs, Mrs. Chinwe Achugbu, praised Ehiahuruike’s impact. “She has truly made a mark in her lifetime. Since I joined the ministry, she has been a great support to me. I am still learning from her.

“The opening of SIDEC’s new office near us is a welcome development that will strengthen our collaboration. She is an eagle who will always soar. She is a role model and a dependable partner.” she said .

Speaking on behalf of the Association of Civil Societies, South East Zone, Prof. Dennis Aribodor commended Ehiahuruike’s energy and capacity. “SIDEC is part of our coalition, and Ugochi is an integral member.

“Although I have worked closely with her for less than a year, I can attest to her courage and boldness. She is capable of delivering on any mandate.”je said.

Reverend Father Jude Anyanwu blessed the new SIDEC office in Awka, praying for continued success and productive years ahead for the Executive Director.
