Prof Charles Soludo

Professor Charles  Soludo, the Governor of Anambra State, has been nominated as the lead speaker for Nigeria’s 2025 Democracy Day event at The Platform,an annual non-partisan forum powered by Pastor Poju Oyemade, aimed at charting a course for national and continental development.

Governor Soludo will share the stage as a lead speaker alongside the Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu. Other distinguished speakers include former Governor of Lagos State, Barrister Babatunde Raji Fashola, and former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, among others.

Soludo, a former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria and a globally respected economist, currently serves as Governor of Anambra State. Renowned for his forthrightness and depth of analysis, his upcoming appearance at The Platform is generating significant anticipation. Many Nigerians look forward to hearing his candid perspectives on pressing national issues.

A statement released by the governor’s press secretary, Christian Aburime, reads as follows:

“As Nigeria marks another Democracy Day amid familiar challenges, Nigerians yearn for more than ceremonial speeches, they seek credible voices that offer not only diagnoses but also tangible, inspiring blueprints for national renewal.

One such voice that continues to rise above the noise, commanding attention across geopolitical divides, is that of Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, CFR, Governor of Anambra State.

Beyond the boundaries of his state, Governor Soludo has long been a formidable national figure a visionary, thought leader, patriot, and unwavering optimist who believes passionately in Nigeria’s potential for greatness.

His credibility does not rest on rhetoric but on intellectual rigor and proven impact. As a globally recognized economist and former Central Bank Governor, he possesses an incisive understanding of national and global economic dynamics. His transition into public service as Anambra’s Governor further affirms his commitment to solving long-term challenges with clarity and conviction.

Today, Anambra State is undergoing a bold transformation under his leadership an evolution into a livable, prosperous, smart megacity. His development philosophy echoes the progressive ideals of the late Chief Obafemi Awolowo, with a strong emphasis on education, infrastructure, and economic sustainability. Similarly, like the Great Zik of Africa, Soludo champions a pan-Nigerian federalist vision that resonates beyond Anambra’s borders.

Crucially, Governor Soludo is a strategic thinker who roots his bold ideas in actionable plans. He rejects short-term fixes in favor of sustainable, long-term solutions.

In a society where cynicism about Nigeria’s future is widespread, Governor Soludo stands out as a steadfast patriot never shying away from critiquing federal policies, yet always offering thoughtful, data-backed solutions with unflinching honesty.

Furthermore, he is a consistent advocate for national unity. He rejects divisive rhetoric while persistently demanding fairness and equity for the South-East within the Nigerian federation. This blend of frankness, patriotism, and vision makes his voice both credible and compelling.

It is no surprise that his rare combination of intellectual depth, proven governance, and authentic nationalism makes him a sought-after speaker on critical national issues.

His contributions whether on monetary policy, economic reform, security, or nation-building are widely respected, as they are grounded in experience, data, and an evident passion for Nigeria’s future.

For these reasons, Nigerians from all walks of life should keenly anticipate Governor Soludo’s address at The Platform on Thursday, June 12th, in Lagos, titled ‘Rebuilding the Nation’.

We are not expecting just another political speech, but a significant contribution from a transformative thought leader one with the intellectual clarity and practical insights Nigeria urgently needs.

As we reflect on our democratic journey this June 12th, let us pay close attention to voices like Professor Soludo’s leaders who not only identify our challenges but possess the vision and competence to propose lasting solutions. His speech promises to be a defining moment of reflection, clarity, and hope for the nation.”
