Agunechemba Boss Slams Anambra Gunmen as Cowards; Delta Monarchs Warn of Ritualist Surge

Prince Kenneth Emeakayi, Commander of the Agunechemba Security Squad and Special Adviser to Governor Charles Soludo on Community Security, has described the threats to his life and those of his family members by gunmen as cowardly and desperate acts.
His remarks come amid growing concerns from traditional rulers in Delta State, who have lamented the increasing presence of suspected fake native doctors and ritualists flooding into their communities.
According to Emeakayi, he has been receiving persistent phone calls from unknown individuals, believed to be gunmen who have threatened to assassinate him and harm his family unless he resigns from his position as a security chief.
“Recently, a traditional ruler in Asaba, Delta State, complained that criminals are now infiltrating his state after fleeing from Anambra,”
“Colleagues from other states have been calling to ask why we in Anambra chased these criminals into their territories. This is proof of the effectiveness of the security architecture currently in place in Anambra.”Emeakayi stated.
Emeakayi noted that before his appointment in Anambra, he served as a security consultant in several states and communities, giving him deep insight into the ongoing crisis.
“Some of these boys from other states confessed to coming into Anambra to carry out kidnappings. After committing these crimes, they return to their states to build lavish houses and make major investments.
“They refer to this as ‘Ije Olu Anambra’—which means ‘Anambra Works.’ When they come home flaunting their wealth, other youths aspire to join in. This reflects how the perceived wealth in Anambra has become a magnet for criminal activity.”
On the threats to his life, Emeakayi gave a harrowing account of the intimidation tactics employed by the criminals:
“I receive death threats daily. They’ve threatened not just me, but also my mother, my children, and my sister.
They even call my children directly, telling them, ‘We know you’re in school. Go and warn your father—we will kill him if he doesn’t resign.’
I tell my children: ‘You have your own lives to live. If you want to abandon your father’s land because of one coward, the decision is yours.’”
He recounted one specific call from a threat actor:
“Someone called to say he would kill me and burn down my house. I told him he was a coward for hiding his number. I asked him not to burn the house because it belongs to my father and is surrounded by neighbors who have nothing to do with his grievances.
He replied, ‘You seem to be a very stubborn man.’ I told him, ‘If you’re man enough, set a time and place for us to meet—I’ll be there.’”
Emeakayi emphasized that such threats will not deter him or the Agunechemba squad from continuing their work in securing Anambra State.
