The All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial candidate for the upcoming Anambra State governorship election, Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu, has assured that all 179 communities and various interest groups in the state that no one will be sidelined under his administration, should he receive their mandate in the November 8, 2025 poll.
Speaking at a grand reception hosted in his honour by the Nri community over the weekend, Ukachukwu pledged to build inclusive governance by engaging all communities, with particular reference to Nri in Anaocha Local Government Area.
He emphasized that partnership and collaboration with local communities would be central to his administration’s development strategy.
The Nri community, widely regarded as the cradle of Igbo civilization, formally declared its endorsement of the APC, its governorship candidate Prince Ukachukwu, and his running mate, Senator Uche Ekwunife, in the upcoming election.
The event, which was well-attended by traditional leaders, political stakeholders, and community members, served as a platform for the community to express its strong support for the APC ticket. Senator Ekwunife, a daughter of the community and a prominent figure in Nigerian politics, was particularly celebrated for her legacy of impactful representation and developmental projects in the area.
Chairman of the occasion and former President-General of the Nri community, Chief Kelvin Obiegbunam, commended Senator Ekwunife for her outstanding public service, describing her as a pragmatic and visionary leader capable of effectively holding higher political office.
Echoing this sentiment, another community leader, Chief Chuks Emelife, formally moved a motion for the adoption of Ekwunife as the community’s candidate. He cited her consistent track record, community development efforts, and her integrity as key reasons for their support.
“Our support for Senator Ekwunife and Prince Ukachukwu is based on their proven dedication to the people. What Anambra needs now are committed team players who understand governance, not just politics,” Emelife said.
In her response, Senator Ekwunife expressed deep gratitude to her community for their endorsement and overwhelming show of solidarity.
She assured them that their support would not be taken for granted, and pledged that under their joint administration, every community in Anambra would be actively involved and duly considered in policy implementation and development plans.
“No community will be left behind. Our mission is to deliver inclusive governance that truly reflects the will and needs of the people,” Ekwunife stated.
She further emphasized that political affiliation should serve as a vehicle to deliver competence, justice, and good governance.
“We must rise above sentiments and focus on leadership that works for the common good,” she added.
As the campaign gains momentum, the endorsement by the Nri community is seen as a significant boost for the APC ticket, particularly in a region known for its political influence and historical relevance within Igbo land.
