Anambra Police Burst Drug Den in Oko, Arrest Six Suspects

The Anambra State Police Command on Thursday raided a drug den in Oko, arresting six suspects and recovering a large quantity of various hard substances.
According to a statement released by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Ikenga Tochukwu, operatives of the Special Anti-Cultism Squad, Enugwu-Ukwu, carried out the operation in the early hours of June 25, 2025.
The statement listed the suspects as Joseph Chukwura, Emmanuel Chukwuemeka, Ifeanyi Agbanari, Igwe Chineche, Mmadufor Chinecherem, Chibueze Chukwumankpam, and Mmadubom Uchenna. All suspects are male and aged between 24 and 35 years.
SP Ikenga noted that the suspects are currently undergoing interrogation to provide vital information, particularly in relation to the recent disturbing incident reported in Oko.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, emphasized that drug abuse is a major factor contributing to crime and has ordered a sustained clampdown on all criminal activities in Oko and its surrounding areas.
The Command believes that this operation marks a significant step toward curbing the prevalence of crime in the region and may help uncover more criminal networks operating in the area.
