Nsukka Catholic Diocesan faithful in St. Patrick’s Cathedral Parish, Awka Diocese honour people for promoting evangelism
The Nsukka Catholic Diocesan faithful in St. Patrick’s Cathedral Parish, Awka Diocese, Anambra State, recently honored Senator Victor Umeh, Hon. Victor Afam Ogene, and several others for their contributions to promoting the evangelism of Jesus Christ.
The ceremony, held at St. Patrick’s Cathedral Parish, saw the presentation of plaques and certificates with the inscription “Great Supporter Of Christ Evangelism” to the recipients.
The parish cathedral administrator, Rev. Fr. Anthony Nwafor, presented the awards on behalf of the St. Charles Zone, a group of Nsukka Catholics.
The recipients are, Senator Victor Umeh,Hon. Victor Afam Ogene, Hon. Prof. Lilian Orogbu, Chief Emmanuel Odoh, Hon. Chinedu Romanus Eze, Mr. Obini Onuchukwu and about twenty others
The leader of the St. Charles Zone, Mr. Boniface Okechukwu Obeta, explained that the recipients were chosen for their contributions to promoting Christ Evangelism.
He said that evangelism goes beyond preaching rather it include showing empathy to the needy, assisting the poor, and paying hospital bills for those in need.
The honor presentation was part of the events marking the commemoration of the patron saint, St. Charles Lwanga, a Ugandan convert to Christianity who was martyred for his faith. The ceremony also saw the launch of the zone’s constitution and the formal sendoff of the immediate past leader, Mr. Emmanuel Ugwu.
The parish cathedral administrator and the chairman of the ceremony commended the initiatives of the St. Charles Zone in identifying and honoring individuals who promote Christian values.
They urged the recipients to see the gesture as a source of encouragement to continue doing more for Christ Evangelism.
