One of the leaders of the Obidient Movement in Anambra State, Chief Charles Obiora Anueyiagu, has reaffirmed the commitment of the movement’s stakeholders in the state to play a key role in the election of the Labour Party candidate, Dr. George Moghalu, as the next governor of Anambra State.
Chief Anueyiagu, speaking to journalists on Friday during the Labour Party campaign flag-off in Onitsha, insisted that the movement will deliver over 2 million votes for the Labour Party candidate from the 5,720 polling units and 326 political wards across the 21 local government areas of Anambra State.
He described Moghalu as a capable leader who possesses all it takes to defeat the incumbent governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, in the poll scheduled for November 8, 2025.
Another Obidient Movement collegiate leader who shed more light on the reasons the movement, under Chief Anueyiagu’s leadership, has thrown his support behind the former Managing Director of the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA).
“Dr. George Moghalu is a dogged fighter and an enlightened individual who knows his rights. He has a commendable track record as a credible and compassionate leader. In the Obidient Movement, our motto is ‘go and verify’ you can go and verify his antecedents,”
“Moghalu began his political career as a commissioner in Abia State. He was a national auditor in the APC and a director at NIWA before joining the Labour Party.” he said.
He further urged Obidients in other political parties to return to their roots. “Obidient is one and we have one direction, which is to ensure that Dr. George Moghalu takes over the seat of governance at the Lighthouse in Awka. He is a good man with a pure heart.”he added.
Anueyiagu also hinted that the Obidient Movement, which he described as a formidable force, will always support their national leader, Mr. Peter Obi.
He added that Obi’s presence at the campaign flag-off indicates that George Moghalu has secured the coveted position in Anambra State.
“Obidients are everywhere and across all political parties. Because our national leader, Mr. Peter Obi, is here and has endorsed Chief George Moghalu, it is certain that Obidients will do everything possible to ensure his victory come November 8.”he stated
